For the first release of our Fall/Winter collection, we’re giving first dibs at this new piece to our ATL supporters. It’ll be available Monday, October 26th at Standard on Peachtree.

The Hawks revealed their new alternate jersey today at AtlantaStationz (Atlantic Station) at their “Paint the Town Red” event/pep rally. As we wished so dearly, it was pretty much exactly as we envisioned it months ago. YAY! I can’t wait to get a #27 Pachulia Authentic jersey, but it might take a few weeks for them to be available. Either way, I’m very excited that one of our local teams will be repping ATL hard on their jerseys.
As a cool side note, I was able to speak with Jamal Crawford at the event. Our conversation went like this:
Me: “Jamal!”
JC: “What’s up?”
Me: “I drafted you to my fantasy team yesterday”
JC: “You won’t be disappointed…”
Me: “Thanks bro, have a good season!”

Some of you might recognize this weeks photographer not for his photography but for a little viral video from a few years ago. Thats right, Noah Kalina is the maker and star of the famous YouTube video where he takes a picture of himself every day for 6 years. Little did I know when I first saw that video that he was a photographer himself. He’s been making a name for himself more and more in the commercial world and has been producing some really great work lately. One of my favorite essays on his website is his “What Happens in Vegas” essay. Its a series of self portraits taken all over landmarks in Vegas with the same facial expression every time. This essay is only a small example of Kalina’s work and talents. Check out more of this series after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

We had so much fun duking it out against Esperanza last night at Graveyard Tavern that we’re already talking about doing it again! We’ll go even bigger next time! Thank you to everyone who came out and witnessed the throwdown, and special thanks to those who participated as part of Team Process. The final score was 3 - 2 in favor of Process! We won the categories of Darts, Pool, & Bearfights. Esperanza kicked our butts in Arm-wrestling and Sticker High-jump.

Uffie has been one of my favorites for a very long time and I’m happy to see that her full-length album will finally drop in early 2010. She has such a spicy attitude! Peep her first official music video for the newly-re-recorded single, Pop the Glock. Language NSFW!
Check out our buddy, Shane Smallz (repping the Process), in the most recent Creative Loafing Charlotte. Thanks to Joe for the heads-up!
I’m in TX this weekend and I decided to check out the monument-of-excess that Jerry Jones built for the ‘Boys. The field isn’t laid out right now because they are busy setting the stage up for the U2 concert on Monday night. As you can see, the highly-controversial scoreboard has been raised to 110 ft to set up the stage area for the U2 bros to run around.

Where are you from?
Atlanta, y’all. Please.
Who do you work for?
Myself, Armchair, and People of Resource.
What are your Current Project(s)?
At Armchair: writing, design, and production of content for the College Board take up most of my time these days. I have to say, our team is killing it lately.
For People of Resource, I’ve been doing some writing for DEX Studios and some internal strategy and design.
Just finished some work through Quo Vadis for lighting designer Christopher Moulder.
I’m designing a short publication for some of my favorite furniture designers, Rich Brilliant Willing. Also: doing a new tour poster for a very talented old friend, Sean Renner.
Figuring out systems, strategy, and social movements with Ted, Sri, and Melissa at Entry Level Big Thinkers. Trying to understand where young, upstart designers and thinkers fit into that space.
Gluzman and I are attempting to gain some footing as to where our collaborative relationship will go next as Mingle (eager to get more 3-D). Ted and I have begun a new art and design project, but it’s kinda hush hush for now.
My wife and I keep a food blog of low-res iPhone photos of things we eat or make (and articles we like) called How to Eat Food.
Who would you love to work with?
I learn so much from all the people I’m working with now. Being in demanding, open, collaborative environments like Armchair and Resource is probably my favorite thing in the world. I’m psyched to go to work everyday and I feel pretty fortunate in that regard. Otherwise, I’d love to collaborate with some more outside-of-ATL friends: in particular, Foda Studio in Austin, Craig Berman in Chicago, and American Design Club in New York. Other dream teams: Charles and Ray Eames, Daniel Eatock, Naoto Fukasawa, OMA/AMO, Mack Scogin and Merrill Elam.
If you had to give all your sneakers away to charity except for one pair, which ones would you keep?
Real answer: Beat-up Adidas Sambas. Preferred future answer: Air Max 95s in the original colorway. Or the Jordans from around the same time that had the patent leather. Nike was on fire then.
What’s on your iPod right now?
A constantly evolving mixture of old favorites, things I read about on blogs, and things I hear Farbod play at Armchair. To be specific, I can’t get enough of: Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Animal Collective, Sigur Ros, Washed Out, Volcano Choir, Bibio, Eluvium, and The Field.
What’s your Favorite ATL food?
The standard Chick-fil-a Chicken Sandwich, Nuevo Laredo, or whatever the moment dictates on Buford Highway.
What’s your Favorite ATL hangout?
Octane
What are your Pet Peeves?
Ugh, my own work habits: I love new projects and I love working hard, but I’m also incredibly easy to distract.
Shout outs?
My lady, Stacy, and my kids, Bennett and Vivian. Additionally: My brothers, Kevin and Kenny. Sibling-in-laws: Noelle, Trey, and Nick. Armchairs: Kevin, Stefan, Farbod, Nate, Aaron, Michelle, JTrav, Melissa, Ryan, Gluzman, Erica, Rebecca, Marta. Resourceful People: DVA, Sloan, SK. All Yall: Sean, Ted, Nik, Rick Julian, Chris, Shelton, Collin, Zak, Josh, James Nord, Dudes of Sid Mashburn, new friends, old friends I don’t see enough of, and, the internet.

Our friends, Rehab, are releasing the single, 1980, off of their acclaimed album, Graffiti the World. They asked EC to create artwork to go along with their radio-promo CD’s as well as art to accompany song downloads and other fun stuff.
The lyrics to the song remind me of a bro going to his high school reunion and hollering at shortys from way back. It just so happens that my 10-year reunion is coming up soon, so it made sense to draw Rehab’d “class ring”. I intended for the colors in the ring and background to dynamically change out to the school colors of the different regions they’d promote the song in. For example, Red/Black/White for Georgia/Athens area, and Orange/Blue/Green for Florida, and so forth. Somehow the management really liked the Varsity Gold and Maroon colorway I presented. I like it too, except it sort of reminds me of the worst NFL team ever ever ever (Redskins).
