Monsieur Periné – La Tienda De Sombreros

April 2nd, 2012 by Larry

I recently discovered my new favorite band during our adventures in Austin a few weeks back. I met up with Julie Wheat of Cavortress and the rest of her crew and we randomly stumbled into a bar where Monsieur Periné was playing. We were all amazed by the talent on stage and decided to stay for the rest of the evening. Seriously, we were asked to leave as we shut the place down.

The next day we couldn’t remember the name of the band we saw the night before, yet we all agreed that they were awesome. Then, as if it were planned, the singer for Monsieur Periné, Catalina García, comes walking by right in front of our booth at Style X. I immediately approached her, and probably looked like a crazy stalker in the moment, but I had to ask if she had any music from her band that I could get. She sold me an EP on the spot, and I couldn’t be happier that I’m able to own the soundtrack to a memorable evening I had in Austin, TX. Encounters like this, is why you go to SXSW.
