Atlanta Falcons New Era 2012 NFL Sideline Cap

June 26th, 2012 by Larry

Introducing the football cap that the Atlanta Falcons will wear on the sidelines for the 2012 season. Today, New Era unveiled their first ever NFL On-Field cap collection. These caps will be worn by NFL players on the sidelines during regular season and posteseason games. The collection is available for purchase at New Era Flagship stores,, and other retailers beginning July 12.

In April 2012, New Era became the exclusive and official headwear supplier for the National Football League (NFL) for all sideline, locker room, NFL Draft Day and Super Bowl caps as well as having rights for fan headwear worldwide.

“This collection is built for the hot days in September and the frigid evenings in December. For over 90 years, New Era has been providing athletes and fans with high quality products,” says Christopher H. Koch, CEO, New Era. “We’re thrilled to bring our first ever NFL On-Field collection with a unique combination of style, comfort and technology to the NFL sidelines.”

Sport performance is one of the center pillars of the New Era brand. The NFL On-Field Collection is infused with NE TECH properties that will keep both players and fans comfortable well into the off-season. DRYERA™ is specially treated fabric that repeals water whenever inclement weather sneaks up. Additionally, the collection has COOLERA™, a moisture management system that wicks away sweat and disperses it quickly.

The NFL Kickoff game on Wednesday, September 5, when the Super Bowl XLVI-champion New York Giants host the Dallas Cowboys, will mark the first time a 59FIFTY will appear on the sidelines at an NFL game. Throughout the season, knits, headbands and 59FIFTY Dog Ears, will headline the NFL Cold Weather Collection which will debut later into the season. When the temperature drops, this upcoming collection will keep players and fans warm.

Nike Sportswear AF1 Digi-Camo Launch Event

June 25th, 2012 by Joe

photos by Joe Martinez

This past weekend marked the 30th anniversary of one of Nike’s most iconic sneaker, the Air Force 1. To commemorate the event, Nike Sportswear set up shop at Rivington Court for an afternoon of basketball, music, and the release of the Air Force One Low High Frequency Digital Camouflage, or the “Digi-Camo” for short. The event was open to the public, and it was a mixed crowd of sneaker heads, curious tourists, and plenty of kids on summer break. Guests wandering into the event were treated to Mister Softee ice cream, and burgers from NYC food truck, Feed Your Hole. The afternoon wrapped up with a performance from Theophilus London. The temporary basketball court will remain on the Lower East Side through the end of the summer. Great way to kick off the summer and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the AF1! Check out the rest of my photos after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

“Voices” Film

June 22nd, 2012 by Larry

This morning, Nike released a short film entitled Voices, celebrating women in sports. Tomorrow is the 40th anniversary of Title IX (June 23, 1972), the landmark U.S. legislation that opened the door for female athletes to pursue their dreams through sport.

The film features the personal stories of four amazing female athletes, spanning three generations, who play by their own rules: Joan Benoit Samuelson (legendary distance runner and first women’s marathon gold medalist in Los Angeles in 1984), Lisa Leslie (four-time gold medalist and WNBA pioneer), Marlen Esparza (USA Boxing’s 6-time national champion and member of the USA Women’s Boxing team) and Diana Taurasi (two-time gold medalist, guard for Phoenix Mercury and former WNBA MVP).

The film launches tomorrow (June 23) on Nike Women Facebook and will run on ESPN and ABC Family, and again on June 26 on ESPN. Viewers can participate in the conversation on Nike Women Facebook and Twitter via #MAKETHERULES.

I Hate Miami

June 19th, 2012 by Larry

This 6 year old has a total meltdown during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. This is exactly how I feel every time I watch the NBA. As an Atlanta Hawks fan, I’ve come to expect this level of disappointment every time the game gets taken out of the hands of the players and put in the hands of the officials. I blame David Stern for all of this. I hate Miami too little man… I hate them so bad.

Wreck-It Ralph Trailer

June 7th, 2012 by Larry

Super-sized bad guy Wreck-It Ralph — voiced by John C. Reilly — is quitting his destructive day job to save the entire arcade in Walt Disney Animation Studios 52nd animated feature. Also featuring the voices of Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman with cameos from gaming’s ultimate super-villains. In theaters November 2, 2012.

I’m so excited to see newly interpreted personalities from some of my favorite nostalgic characters from childhood. Also, I’m totally amazed by the licensing undertaking behind this production.

Too Soon?

June 5th, 2012 by Jorge

Last week we tweeted about the incident in Miami where a homeless man had his faced eaten off buy a bath-salt-crazed-naked man. The story sparked rumors that zombies were quite real and walking around Miami. Perhaps that’s what prompted the CDC, in Atlanta, to formally announce this weekend that there is no virus that is turning people into zombies. This news, however, did not make it out to those caught in the following video. Please don’t try this at home; especially not in Georgia. We all got guns, y’all!
