June 1st, 2011 by Larry

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year since we participated in the 1st Let The Good Times Roll skateboard art show in Charlotte. Our buds at Black Sheep Skate Shop invited us to participate in LTGTR2 and we decided to carry over a treatment that we recently applied to the “Process Room” at The Basement. What do you guys think?

Purge Raw

September 24th, 2010 by Larry

Purge ATL is a new online publication that actively publishes relevant content on Atlanta creative culture. Although it’s not a print publication, Purge is more in-touch with what’s really going than other Atlanta-centric news sources.

Anyway, the Purge team is hosting an art show opening tonight at Picaflor studio. I’ve personally met 4 of the 6 people in this art show, and they fully receive my support. One person in particular, Ryan James, has been a close friend of mine since 2000. We were skateboarding buddies, roommates, band mates, and we’ve been involved in more hi-jinx than you could imagine over the past 10 years. It’s his 1st art show ever and I’m urging everyone to come out.

Picaflor Studio
Friday Sept. 24th
7 to 11pm

September 9th, 2010 by Larry

This Saturday, our good friend, Mike Germon and his cohort, Truett Dietz, will be hosting an art opening for collage work on which they’ve recently collaborated. The show will be hanging on the walls at Beep Beep Gallery from Saturday, September 11th until Sunday, October 3rd. This will be a great opportunity to score some local art at an affordable price.

The 1 of 1 Project

July 4th, 2010 by Larry

We recently customized a pair of Vans Chukkas for an art show that took place this past week in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The show, called The 1 of 1 project, was put together by former 3Sixteen associate (and fantasy football disaster), Chris Watchorn.

The 1 of 1 Project had two goals in mind. The first was to bring together artists who work in a range of mediums and industries including graphic design, fashion design and illustration. It was an opportunity to bring together some of Winnipeg’s up and coming artists with a blend of established North American talents. The 30 partaking artists span North America including New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Orlando, Portland and Atlanta.

The second goal was to use the donated talents to create unique art pieces that could be auctioned to raise funds for local charity. All proceeds from the event will go towards The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Winnipeg.

We kept our inspiration bold and simple, along the lines of our Tribe Logo tee featured here. Check out more pics after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Popstars & Cokeheads

September 24th, 2009 by Georgios

Check out our boy, Greg Mike, getting ready for his first solo show in San Francisco at the Medicine Agency . The show features hand painted pieces, sculptures, tee shirts, accessories, prints and collectibles designed and created over the past ten months. The centerpiece of the show is an army of 100 hand painted soda cans that have been transformed into the kaleidoscopic “POPSTARS AND COKEHEADS” characters, a playfully sinister cast of unique and eye-catching creatures. If you happen to be in San Francisco, go check out the show.

Steven Dixey – The Road to Damascus

September 10th, 2009 by Larry

One of my favorite artists, Steven Dixey, is showing new pieces in a series called The Road to Damascus at Beep Beep Gallery on Saturday night. I’ve been anticipating this show for months now. If you call yourself a fan of the arts, you HAVE to see his iconic work. Hopefully we’ll be able to pick up something nice for the Treehouse!

Special Delivery: Vans Chukkas

August 6th, 2009 by Larry

I love coming into The Treehouse and being greeting by new mail from buddies all over the world. Today, we opened a package from Chris who runs the humble blog Life After Midnight and works as a design intern for NYC brand, 3Sixteen that I’ve become a huge fan of.

We’ve been tasked to customize this pair of Vans Chukkas for a charity show taking place in Canada next year. Other participating artists include SoleFood NYC, Blaine Fontana, and Mark Dean Veca. They will be auctioned off with all profits going to the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital. How cool is that!?!

Also, keep tabs on Life After Midnight, as I’ll be participating in the Monday Morning Playlist interview series as soon as I can narrow down my tracklist!

By the way, check out the sweet logo designed by our own, Erin Warner. Give it up for our girl!
