While at the media-briefing for the announcement of the Zoom Kobe VI “Neighborhood Pack” at The Nike Vault at Staples Center, I noticed this torn paper mural of Kobe Bryant. I’ve been a fan of basketball, art, and design for years and I had never seen this piece before. It’s made of torn pieces of black-and-white printed paper depicting key moments in Kobe’s basketball career. The mural is a permanent fixture at The Nike Vault, but it seems to have received little to no attention thus far.
What’s awesome about this piece is that it is a true study of color and contrast. It reminds me of a roided-out cut-paper-poster I worked on for 9 weeks as a 1st quarter student at Portfolio Center. It was one of the most difficult projects I’d ever worked on, but it taught me so much about working with shading and composition. I wonder what kind of adhesive the artist(s) of the Kobe mural used. It sure as hell wasn’t rubber cement, because that’s what I used on my design school cut-paper poster that is currently falling apart!

Since we started the Process Clothing Line, we have released a new horseman every other season and with the next season approaching we plan to release the last and final Horseman, Famine. In addition to the Famine T-shirt, we will also be offering the whole series as posters on our Process Online Store. Stay tuned for more info and sneak peaks of the last horseman.
This Saturday, our good friend, Mike Germon and his cohort, Truett Dietz, will be hosting an art opening for collage work on which they’ve recently collaborated. The show will be hanging on the walls at Beep Beep Gallery from Saturday, September 11th until Sunday, October 3rd. This will be a great opportunity to score some local art at an affordable price.
Our friend Destiny recently got some work done on her arm in the form of chief Nokahoma from our PROCESS collection. Wow! That’s amazing that she’d be willing to put our graphic on her arm forever. Who thinks she deserves a free tee per month for life?
I received an email from an anonymous blackberry the other day. All that was attached in that email was this photo. Whoever this is, please get in touch with us, we want to throw down on some ideas for our collections.
Our homie, Ryan O’Malley, is one of the best woodworking/print-gurus I’ve ever seen in action. He recently left a teaching gig in Charlotte to travel the country and share his press-working skills in a series of workshops in every city imaginable. He has since left to take a teaching position in TX, but he left a gift for the Queen City before he took off. (via Kitschworth)

Dosa sent me this awesome portrait he created of local talent, Michi Meko and what I’m assuming is a self-portrait of himself. He has an amazing illustration style and I’m always stoked to see him reppin’ our brand, Process, in his work. Check out the full image after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
