3,000 Hit Club

July 9th, 2011 by Larry

new_era_jeter_3k.jpg

Y’all know how I feel about the Yankees right? However, I can’t hate on the career milestone of 3,000 hits for Mr. Jeter or this classy tribute hat by the good folks at New Era.

It’s totally awesome when New Era takes an official on-field cap and adds a great commemorative logo for a special occasion… Yankees or not! I recently purchased a throwback Atlanta Braves fitted with the commemorative 1995 World Series patch and gray underbill. I wear it all the time. I’m still waiting on a throwback Hank Aaron cap of this same caliber. He’s #3 on the list with 3,771 career hits. Do you think Jeter will ever reach that milestone? How old will he be? Will he still be a Yankee? I hear the Mets are going to need a shortstop when Jose Reyes leaves. #JustSaying #LMAO #GoBraves

Evan Hawkins in Inked Magazine

One of my favorite bartenders in Atlanta, Evan Hawkins, was crowned the National Champion of the 2011 United States Bartenders Guild Drinks & Ink Competition presented by Tuaca. This not-so-usual take on a bartender competition combined the intersecting cultures of bartenders and tattoos with bartenders being judged on their Tuaca bold shot recipe and the overall craftsmanship of their tattoo.

Hawkins captured his first national bartender competition by beating out eight other finalists from the around the country to win a Tuaca photo spread in this month’s Inked Magazine.

“I’ve competed in several bartender competitions and Drinks & Ink was one of the most different and fun ones I’ve ever experienced,” said Hawkins. “I’m proud to have been recognized for both my Pura Vida body art and Tuaca bold shot and am stoked up to be featured in Inked.”

Hawkins won his first national bartender competition with his Pura Vida bold shot recipe and a tattoo featuring a sugar skull with the words “Pura Vida” under it. Pura Vida means pure life in Spanish and the skull is a candy given out on the “day of dead” ceremony in Mexico. For Hawkins, it means to celebrate your life and live the best you can before the end comes.

Nice Kicks vs. We Are the Process - The Southern Series

March 12th, 2011 by Larry

A few months back, Matt Halfhill from Nice Kicks called me about working on a special collection of clothing and hats for his brand. Rather than do the typical “collab”, I suggested we do something a little different, hence the idea for Nice Kicks vs. We Are the Process. Since both brands represent their region of the Southern USA, we decided to brand this showdown as The Southern Series. There are a lot of element from the Process brand that were easy to carry over into the baseball aesthetic, however Nice Kicks needed some new elements to be created by us. Parts of their branding already existed, but the most important new identity mark we created for them was an western-inspired interlocking NK logo. What do y’all think? Check out more photos and the official press release jargon after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Our friends at Centre in Dallas have recently released a New Era fitted cap for their store. Also, it’s just as cool to know that Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech/San Francisco 49ers fame is a shopper at Centre. Perhaps he picked up some Process gear?

While my only difficulties are deciding what cap to wear and where to watch the games, the Braves are in for an uphill battle this postseason. Either way, we’re pumped for some playoff baseball! #TomahawkChop
