Chipper’s Last Bobblehead

August 17th, 2012 by Larry

I scored Chipper Jones’ last official bobblehead at the Ted last night. My homie, Jamie Gordon, and I had a blast bro-ing-out and watching Chipper treat the crowd with 2 homeruns & curtain calls. Nothing beats summertime, baseball, and good friends. Glad to live in ATL…

Hines Ward Action Figure from The Dark Knight Rises

July 14th, 2012 by Larry

void0.jpg

Perhaps you’ve noticed that scene in The Dark Knight Rises trailer where Pittsburgh Steeler’s great, Hines Ward, runs through a football field as it collapses into itself, dressed as a member of the fictitious Gotham Rogues. The scene from the movie was filmed at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh last summer. In October, McFarlane Toys will release a special edition Hines Ward “Gotham Rogues” figure to commemorate this instance where a real-life athlete plays himself in the comic world of Batman. The figure is clad in the black-and-yellow Rogues garb from the movie, and even sports Ward’s real-life tattoo on his right arm.

If you’ve visited our studio, you’ve seen our collection of McFarlane sports figurines, and we can’t wait to add this one to the mix. Pre-order yours now at BigBadToyStore.com.

Check out a full view of the final sculpt after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Wreck-It Ralph Trailer

June 7th, 2012 by Larry

Super-sized bad guy Wreck-It Ralph — voiced by John C. Reilly — is quitting his destructive day job to save the entire arcade in Walt Disney Animation Studios 52nd animated feature. Also featuring the voices of Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman with cameos from gaming’s ultimate super-villains. In theaters November 2, 2012.

I’m so excited to see newly interpreted personalities from some of my favorite nostalgic characters from childhood. Also, I’m totally amazed by the licensing undertaking behind this production.

Kidrobot x The Simpsons “Matt Groening”

February 16th, 2012 by Keenan

kidrobot_thesimpsons_matt_groening.jpg

If you have never seen an episode of The Simpsons, well, you are just down right un-American and should be quite ashamed of yourself. The series has had a cult like following for the past 23 seasons that it has been on primetime TV. That being said, the landmark 500th episode of this consistently relevant show is due to air this month and what better way to immortalize the creator of such an historic show than by introducing a 6’ vinyl figurine of the man himself. The acclaimed creator of the show, Matt Groening, is well over due for some KidRobot love. The toy will come fully laced with director’s pad and pencil accessories. Groening is also sporting his signature goatee and glasses with a red and black director’s jacket on his back. Available now at Kidrobot.com.

KidRobot is no stranger to doing mash-ups with The Simpsons franchise. In 2008, they released twenty-four mini figurines ranging from the always clever killing duo, Itchy and Scratchy, to the booze guzzling alcoholic known as Duff Man! The company introduced a second series of vinyl toys in 2010 that included Zombie Simpsons and everyone’s favorite shaky handed surgeon, Dr. Nick.

The collaboration between the two companies is a match made in toy store heaven. With the countless amount of characters The Simpsons produce, KidRobot will have no shortage of ideas for creating new toys in future.

Atlanta Bench

February 2nd, 2009 by Larry

The other day, Ted and I passed through Atlanta Bench on Marietta Street in search of some big, juicy, drippy graffiti markers for a special project. We were pleased to find a large selection of Montana paints, Krink products, and apparel by lots of local graf writers and artists such as Urban Medium. We spent some time talking to the store’s owner, Rich, and we’re looking forward to working with them in the near future. Also, we discovered a new ink called Soup, which is made locally right here in ATL. For any outside-the-box project, it’s definitely great having a boutique like this in our backyard.
