Twenty-three

June 25th, 2009 by Larry

David Stern’s pocketbook has been hurting ever since MJ decided to call it quits. Which explains why the NBA has been full of undeserving players being put on pedestals for years since. That explains the moronic foul calls and the reason why 20-somethings worldwide long for “back in the day”. MJ is the greatest. Hands down. Lebron, take notes… btw, having Shaq on your team isn’t gonna help either.

Heads up to Dr. Jones for the link!

EDubb - Whooty

June 3rd, 2009 by Larry

I don’t normally post videos of the Crank That or Stanky Legg nature, but when our buddy, Yuri, called this to my attention I couldn’t help but laugh. Not only does Atlanta’s EDubb have the funniest hook I’ve heard in awhile, but frontman Nemesis is wearing a PROCESS x Estate LA Chief Nokahoma fitted the whole time! I’ve watching this thing 5 times in a row and I’m really starting to like it…

Zach’s even teaching a class at Portfolio Center, our old stomping grounds!

Fugees Family Featured on CNN

May 7th, 2009 by Larry

.
The other day I was sitting through a layover in the Tokyo Narita Airport in Japan when I looked up from playing NBA Live to see a familiar face on CNN. Coach Luma Mufleh and the Fugees Family were being featured on a special about Africa and I was excited for that kind of global exposure for their organization. I wanted to stand up in the middle of the airport and exclaim, “I know her, we worked together!” The website that EC created for them is shown several times in the feature as well. I was floored.

Hitting the Streets Hard in QC

March 26th, 2009 by Larry

A couple weeks ago the crew went to Charlotte for Laced Up and to visit our friends in the Queen City. We were lucky to have Hadi and his video camera capturing a lot of the hi jinx from that weekend. This was taken about 5 minutes after we did some Bear Fights with Myk from Danger Means Nothing escorting us through the city… hilarious! Shouts to Nikki Reid aka Party Wolf for having a good sense of humor afterward.

PROCESS Lookbook Shoot [Animated]

March 5th, 2009 by Larry

Yesterday, I quickly made this video using existing photography from the PROCESS lookbook photoshoot from last summer. It’s interesting to see the images come to life and equally exciting to see how far we’ve come. In just 24 hours, the line will be available to the public at both Standard locations and on our website, http://wearetheprocess.com. Thanks to everyone that helped make this possible. YOU GUYS are the WE in “We Are the Process”.

Nike Black History Month Poetry Contest

February 19th, 2009 by Larry

Contest winner, Kedarius Peoples, on stage performing in the GameChangers “Beat The Odds” tee designed by Epidemik Coalition’s Georgios Saliaris. Photo by Ross Martin

Atlanta high school students got together this morning to compete in a spoken word showdown on the subject of GameChangers in celebration of Black History Month. GameChanger’s emcee & “voice of Atlanta”, DJ Greg Street, introduced speaker Divine Bradley who came with a message to inspire the youth in attendance to follow their dreams. Georgios, Ross, and myself were really impressed with his presence and ability to motivate.

Soon afterward, the spoken word contestants assumed the stage while their student counterparts cheered them on with fervor. I was blown away with their performances and passion for changing-the-game with subject matter ranging from family members who inspire them, Rosa Parks, Correta Scott King, and Barack Obama’s ideal of change for America.

A panel of celebrity judges included Angelo Taylor (4-time Olympic Gold Medalist) and current Atlanta Falcons players Curtis Lofton and Jamaal Anderson. They crowned Kedarius Peoples of Cedar Grove High School (Senior) as the 1st place winner. He took home a $1,000 scholarship to pursue his dreams and a pair of the exclusive Nike Sportswear Black History Month Air Force 1 sneakers that were designed and inspired by the rich history of African American culture.

It’s great to see Nike’s involvement in the Atlanta community and as always, they do it right and they do it BIG.

EC’s own, Ross Martin, took some great shots of the event. Check out our selects from today after the jump. More to come in next week’s Photo Friday…

Photo Friday: Todd Jordan

January 23rd, 2009 by Ross

myriamoutthewindownewyork2002.jpg

This week I bring you a pretty interesting photographer. His name is Todd Jordan and not only is he represented by Peter Hay Halpert Fine Art in New York but he is also a professional skateboarder for Nike SB. His photographs are simple and come mostly from his tours across the country. His part in the most recent Nike video, Nothing but the Truth, was one of the better parts of the entire video. Check it out after the jump.

Punch Out Trailer

October 5th, 2008 by Larry

Ok, so I wouldn’t normally post something like this, but I must say that Nintendo has “nailed it” as far as branding is concerned for their Wii-iteration of the infamous Punch Out game. Upon viewing this video, I nearly lost it. Seriously, they couldn’t have done a better job modernizing a classic. The characters, storyline, and even the theme song have tipped their hat at the original game (which used to bear Mike Tyson’s name) and have been carefully re-rendered to the glee of twenty-somethings worldwide.

Imagine how easily a bunch of suits in a boardroom could have found a reason to re-concept the whole game. I’m glad they didn’t. Sometimes you don’t need a bunch of d-bags telling you what to do. Sometimes it’s fine to follow the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. For Nintendo’s sake, it’s safe to say that this game will make a killing in 2009, as 80’s nostalgia should be enough to sell this game alone.

I wonder if the password, 007 373 5963, will do anything…

Thór Stefánsson on Cartoon Network

September 30th, 2008 by Larry

It’s official, Thór Stefánsson, is a local hero. At eight years old, he already has a resume to be reckoned with. He has been a poster boy for flickr, been featured on our website, debuted a solo art show at Octane Coffee, and now he’s going to be on TV. Check out Thor in Cartoon Network’s new bumps for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He shows up around 0:38 seconds into the video.

Shock Cinema: Live & Online [8.22.08]

August 22nd, 2008 by Larry

Our friends, Shock Cinema, have a new album out on Kanine Records called Hell and High Water. I hear it’s part of a five part series of albums (so it seems they’ve already mapped out their plans for the next few years). Anyway, it is definitely their best effort to date and it is available for download on iTunes.

Also, Shock Cinema is playing a show at Rehab in New York tonight. You can watch it live here at 10:30pm EST. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to stay in NYC for another night. Otherwise I’d be there in person!

June 16th, 2008 by Larry

Video by Ross Martin

We just got back from our press check of the PROCESS line in Athens. Ross Martin borrowed Jorge’s video camera without asking so he could document our day. I have a feeling this is the first of many video blogs from Ross, as long as Jorge doesn’t mind.

Don’t forget to come out to the PROCESS Photoshoot/Launch Party at El Bar this Wednesday night (June 18th).

“The Day the iPhone Dropped” Documentary

June 29th, 2007 by Larry

Jorge Menes did half of the camera work of this documentary about our Apple iPhone line-waiting experience.

Some pertinent info on how it went down:
-The Mall was scheduled to open at 8am but opened early at 7am.
-The Apple Store closed down from 2pm-6pm to prepare for the iPhone launch.
-By the time the Apple Store reopened its doors, there were over 350 people in line.
-Customers were allowed to buy a maximum of 2 iPhone units.

Here’s a list of music used (try not to sue us):
Knife - Heartbeat
The Rub - Radiohead vs. Lil’ Scrappy & A-Trak
KanYe West/Peter Bjorn & John - Young Folks

Also, we’ve got some new stuff in the Epidemik Coalition Online Store, so check it out!

“Cops on Bikes” Music Video

March 1st, 2007 by Larry

Brothers Aaron and Kevin Byrd’s newest creative endeavor is Cops on Bikes by Thriller 2. These guys are always doing experimental/creative things for fun. Not only is it refreshing to see good people doing good things like this, it’s also great that they involve as many of their friends as they can. Stefan Kjartansson [my typography mentor & caffeine pusher] did all the hand lettering in the video and I was asked do the styling and make a guest appearance. Try and spot the EC goodness when you head over to the Cops on Bikes music video page at byrdhousetv.com.
