Special Delivery: Nike iD

November 17th, 2008 by Larry

I recently posted a preview of the new Nike Store at Lenox Square and had a chance to be one of the first people to create some sneakers in their Nike iD Studio. This morning, I was totally surprised to get a phone call telling me my shoes had arrived (a little over 2 weeks later, that’s fast!). I went for a clean/basic look and as it turns out, my new Dunks match my new Atlanta Hawks fitted that I picked up at Philips Arena a week ago. Speaking of Philips Arena… does anyone want to go to AC/DC on December 16th?

Positive Work

November 8th, 2008 by Larry

photo by Dan Hall of Decatur

I love helping local friends/family with small projects on a regular basis. It’s my way of constantly contributing to the greater good of our ATL-family. Yesterday I helped Standard with their window display for one of the my favorite lines, Benny Gold. Seriously, Benny Gold is hands-down the best designer in streetwear. I’m a huge fan, and his work influences my own. I think everyone out there could take a tip from Benny’s classic and timeless designs. Naturally, when Dan and Farshad at Standard hit me up about window displays, I jumped at the chance to help out. See more photos on the Standard blog.

While I’m on the topic of positive work… remember that special project we were hinting at a couple weeks ago? Answers coming soon. Stay tuned…

Where are you from?
The best city on the planet. Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Who do you work for?
Me!

What are your Current Project(s)?
I just passed my one year anniversary of being a small business owner, so my current project is me. My business is a reflection of my personal life, so I want my life to be in good working order. I’m trying to get a little more sleep these days  and I’ve been working on my house. I like having a creative space to percolate in that’s not a work.

Who would you love to work with?
A hairdresser in England named Antionette Beenders. She’s completely out of the box.

If you had to give all your sneakers away to charity except for one pair, which ones would you keep?
I’d give all my sneakers to charity and keep my ostrich boots from Nashville.

What’s on your iPod right now?
My battery ran out, but I’ve been following this very critical election.

What’s your Favorite ATL food?
My twin sister makes cakes, and it’s the best thing I’ve eaten in Atlanta

What’s your Favorite ATL hangout?
Octane. Great people, Great coffee.

What are your Pet Peeves?
Atlanta drivers and social unconsciousness. People who are extremists.

Shout outs?
Gavin, my sweet boyfriend. My twin Amy and her husband and 4 kids. All my amazing clients, thanks for supporting me. And all the coffee shop employees around Atlanta who give me my daily treat.

Obama Wins

November 4th, 2008 by Ted

img_3752.jpg

It’s 3am, and Atlanta is still celebrating the results of the presidential election.
On my way home from the El Bar Election Night event, I ran across an exuberant impromptu block party on historic Auburn Avenue, downtown. Cars blockaded the intersection and filled it with music as people danced in the streets. It was an amazing sight to see. See more photos by clicking ‘Read More’

Atlanta Historic Places

November 2nd, 2008 by Ted

castleberry.jpg

I’m always impressed by the feel of authentic places. I think it is something that drives a lot of people’s lives; the hunt of authenticity. Atlanta is lucky to have a few places left to itself that are completely unique and honest to its rich history. One such place is located in Castleberry Hill, a part of town just across a foot bridge from the EC studio.

The space shown above is an empty outdoor carcass between two buildings, located on Nelson street. I pass by it on my way for morning coffee at Tilt. The rear façade of the structure still remains. I’ll be keeping an eye on this space for any uses of it, and would recommend it to anyone looking to host an outdoor art or music show.

Atlanta’s New Nike Store Preview

October 29th, 2008 by Larry

You get this card after your Nike iD session. See my creation after the jump.

I just got home from a tour at the new Nike Store at Lenox here in Atlanta that opens tomorrow [10.30.08]. I think that most ATLiens that love hands-on design are going to respond positively to the NikeiD and T Bar offerings that make this store very worthwhile. See everything after the jump.

EC ♥ Collaborations: Update

October 28th, 2008 by Ted

img_3638.jpg

The formula was simple: A t-shirt design I wanted to put to good use combined with some willing participants at the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign (ABC) resulted in the printing of this shirt in black and yellow color-ways. I gave away ten shirts to my closest bike-minded friends, but if you would like one of your own, contact the ABC or one of the .

Update: T-shirts in yellow and black with the ABC name (mens and ladies) are available from the ABC, just contact them here!

T-shirts in black only without the ABC name (mens and ladies) will be available starting this week from the EC online store.

Atlanta’s New Nike Store Teaser

October 27th, 2008 by Larry

You’ve probably heard or noticed that Nike will be opening a new flagship store in Atlanta this Thursday. I’ll be on a “behind the scenes” store preview Wednesday afternoon [10/29/08] and I’m going to post photos on Wednesday afternoon/evening so everyone can see the store before it opens on Thursday.

Earlier this year, I attended the Nike Sportswear store opening celebrations at 21 Mercer in New York City and I’m interested to see what special elements they’ve incorporated from 21 Mercer into ATL’s newest gem!
