Ink and Dagger’s Man Day - Photo Recap

August 11th, 2009 by Chris

picture-006.jpg

Hey guys! Chris here. This past weekend I had the opportunity rep PROCESS as the brand sponsored Ink and Dagger’s Man Day. The owner Russ Abbott put together this festival for dudes that enjoy good beer, great tattoos, and good friends. He went all out for this event with sword-swallowers, fifty dollar flash tattoos, carnival games and a lot of cool prizes to win from the wheel of destiny. It was truly a great day to be a man! Thanks to Jeremy from Ink and Dagger for inviting PROCESS to be a part of this amazing day! Check out more of my photos after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Exposure Recap

August 10th, 2009 by Georgios

exposure-26.jpg

This weekend, we were lucky to be part of the Exposure fashion show. It was put on by our friends at XTM Online. Since Larry was off in in Cleveland for LeBron’s new sneaker release, Chris, Calvin and I were there to represent Process. Luckily we had fashion show veteran, Megan Huntz to help us out. A few days before the event, we all brainstormed and came up with the idea of sending our models out on the catwalk together as couples. Megan fitted her models with her dresses and our models walked out with some fresh Process gear. All the designers had some amazing work and the show turned out great. Thanks to Chris and Calvin for all the help with the show. Props to Jamie Hopper for the great photos.

Set It Off: Daniel Hall [Part 2]

July 29th, 2009 by Larry

dan_hall_process_425.jpg

This is the 1st anniversary of our Set It Off interviews on the EC blog, so we decided to hit up our first interviewee ever, Daniel Hall, to see how things have changed for one of the hardest working people in Atlanta.

Dan, since your interview last year, I’m sure a lot of things have changed. Are you still rocking those blue Vans Authentics? or have you moved on to a new favorite sneaker?
Actually I used those to Wakeboard in at Lake Lanier and I set them out to dry. they went from blue to pale green. So I moved on to the Air Maxim’s, been wearing those almost every day for a while now. Super comfy even though some of my friends think differently.

What’s your favorite article of clothing (non-footwear) right now?
Probably have to be t-shirts. Whether they are blank or have something on them, you can’t go wrong with nice pair of jeans and a crispy t-shirt. They take up about 80 percent of my wardrobe being that Process and Streetlocal keep me laced up pretty good.

What are you listening to now?
Like right now right now? I’m at 1841 listening to Paid in Full by Eric B & Rawkim. But in the general sense, right now since T.I. is serving his sentence I have been listening to a lot of old T.I. mix-tapes like the In Da Street’s series. Anything pre-Gangsta Grillz. I Can’t stand hearing “Barak O’Drama” (Terrible Alias btw) shout over every track.

A year ago, you mentioned wearing a lot of different hats at all times. Have you taken on any more or less responsibilities over the past year? Tell us about your current projects.
Haven’t really taken any hats off per-say. I have slowed down with the contributing articles for Vapors Magazine, But still continue to contribute to Antennamag.com as a web editor. Still going strong at Standard of course, working launching our new site and putting together some things for a small Fall collection of 1841, which is our house or store brand. Still doing some project management with Don Cannon which always is fun. And recently helped Zach Wolfe launch his blog which seems to have gained much attention. I try and help get him content to film whenever possible. Also, we just completed a redesign and relaunch of the standardatl.com website. Did I mention we have a big collab coming out with Bun B?

What’s your proudest accomplishment from the past year?
I don’t know about “proudest” because I have a hard time thinking of stuff which I consider an accomplishment. But I guess it would be the most recent video interview put out by myself and Zach Wolfe with No I.D. about the making of Death Of Auto-tune, which is arguably Jay - Z’s biggest song on Blueprint 3. I thought the video was well shot, and well edited, plus the content was exclusive and relevant. It got roughly 23,000 views within 24 hours which is a pretty good judgment that people liked it. I would love to keep doing stuff of that caliber.

Any goals for the coming year?
Figure out a way to make more money by doing the stuff I am already doing. Focus on thinking smarter not harder.

I couldn’t live without:
My Mac Book Pro, this thing is like another part of my arms. Anything and everything I do runs through this silly machine. I’ll be getting a new one soon. If I wasn’t hurting for the money I’d retire it like No I.D. does his laptops after he is done with them. I’ll tell you more about that another day.

Atlanta’s best kept secret is:
If I told you then it wouldn’t be great anymore. But nah, Taqueria Del Sol? It’s my favorite place to eat, and I live 1 minute from their west side location. You’ll probably see me there tonight.

Oftentimes, you’ll tweet random rap lyrics or inspirational quotes. Could you leave us with a parting quote and tell us why you like it?
Ha! Those are often drunken tweets, but nonetheless great. I’ll leave you with this “Life is parrallel to hell but I must maintain” - Naz. I picked it because life isn’t a joy ride, at least mine isn’t, but through the good times and bad ones you have to maintain a high level of quality work ethic.

Tomahawk Girl Contest Winner!

July 20th, 2009 by Larry

tomahawk_girl_winner.jpg

Congrats to Eric V for submitting the winning name for our Tomahawk Girl contest. The graphic will forever be known as Maddie the Tomahawk Girl named after Braves great, Greg Maddux. The timing was perfect and we couldn’t deny the name, given that Maddux’s #31 jersey was retired over the weekend.

Other honorable mentions were:
Darrell Sabbs - Lil’ Bearfight (referencing our favorite boys night out ritual)
Chris W - Georgia (plain and simple. We loved it.)

All winners will be notified by email. Your prizes will be mailed out after that!

Also, thank you to everyone that submitted a name. They were all really good and some were hilarious. We’ll be in touch about some special things to come just for you all.

Hannibal Matthews for PROCESS

July 16th, 2009 by Larry

process_by_hannibal_matthews.jpg

We spent all of Wednesday on location at the studio of Atlanta photographer, Hannibal Matthews. Known for his star-studded client list, he was commissioned by XTM Online to shoot a lookbook for their fashion show, Exposure, that we’re participating in on August 7th. It’s inspiring to watch Hannibal work and we’re in love with the bang-up job he did for us and the other designers with Exposure. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of his photos start to appear in our PROCESS Gallery (hint).

Passion Pit - The Reeling (Rob Wonder Remix)

July 14th, 2009 by Larry

the_reeling_rob_wonder_425.jpg

Rob Wonder remixed Passion Pit’s The Reeling for Lollapalooza’s Last Band Standing contest. The artist with the most fan votes will be invited to play the festival in Chicago’s Grant Park this summer.

Rob asked us to put together some cover art for the track and he uploaded it to his contestant profile here. Please go to the following link to hear the track and take 2 minutes to vote for him. You can vote once a day, until the contest ends on the 20th, so make sure you do the right thing to send some ATL steeze up to Chicago. You know he’s gonna show the world how to hold it down Atlanta style…

If you’re one of those people that’s always talking about how “Atlanta needs to come together, work together and get on the national radar some more”, you need to do your part right now. Rob will represent.

Vote to send Rob Wonder to Lollapalooza

Another one of my genius stupid ideas that was actually a hit! It took some careful planning and refrigerator space, but Georgios and I figured out how to make it happen in a few hours. I felt like I was in college all over again. Thanks to El Bar for supporting us & supplying the booze for this crazy project!

Maestro Knows & DJ Sourmilk Present…

June 30th, 2009 by Larry

maestro_knows_425.jpg

Yesterday, I was asked to freak a type treatment for Levi Maestro’s new mixtape (mixed by DJ Sourmilk) featuring songs from his Maestro Knows web series that has gotten hugely popular over the past months.

I decided to go with one of my favorite “display/headline” fonts, Trade Gothic Bold No. 20 Condensed, that I’ve been rockin’ since my design school days. Also, I’m hyped to finally throw down on one of Zach Wolfe’s shots. He’s been holding it down for ATL for years!

Danielle Glasky

Aka:
deegee

Website:
chuggable.wordpress.com

Where are you from?
Originally Vallejo, California but now it’s looking like I’m from Atlanta. Been here longer, anyway. Can’t deny your roots, tho.

Who do you work for?
Octane Coffee, for the next 3 weeks anyway. Then I’ll be working for Stumptown Coffee NYC!!

What are your Current Project(s)?
Making things taste amazing!!! We’re working on this single origin espresso from Ethiopia that has been rocking lately. It’s like purple and green skittles. I’m also working on my moped. Does that count? It’s a project. And moving.

Who would you love to work with?
Luckily I work with the coolest effing people at Octane, but I do have my coffee crushes I would love to collaborate with. Like Aida Battle from Santa Ana, El Salvador. This woman has three farms in El Salvador and does some ridiculously amazing coffee. Kentaro Maruyama is also a badass and I would love to learn his zen ways of cupping coffees.

If you had to give all your sneakers away to charity except for one pair, which ones would you keep?
I have these old green vans slip ons that I CANNOT get rid of because I wore them on my first trip to Japan. I will probably move them around forever and grab them quickly if my house begins to burn down.

What’s on your iPod right now?
I’ve been marching backwards in time and revisiting a bunch of shit I used to listen to like Dismemberment Plan, Tristeza, Tortoise… then there’s Broadcast, the Field, Yo la Tengo, Lilys, and Stereolab.

What’s your Favorite ATL food?
arvers- god I’m going to miss this place, specifically the pulled pork. And the BBQ Tofu taco at El Myr. And the deviled eggs at H&F rock my world.

What’s your Favorite ATL hangout?
When I’m not at work I’m at Method Coffee Bar during the day and at Leon’s Full Service or the Brickstore Pub at night.

What are your Pet Peeves?
People on their cell phones at the register or iced espressos or gender related comments regarding coffee.  i drink my coffee black thank you very much because it tastes DELICIOUS this way.

Shout outs?
I guess this is where I get to say goodbye? Sara- so pumped we’ve become so tight; AlyShel, Crystal, the other half of Team Coffee - Ben Helfen (you’re gonna kill in Cologne!), Tiny Rifle and the whole Octane crew,  the sleepy creepies, the Cabbagetown posse, Liz BFF Clayton, EKIII <3, Lamont and Byron, the LEON’s and BSP crew, the blogfam, and my southeast coffee fam love you always.
