Heatwave ‘08

July 31st, 2008 by Larry

Frozen treats don’t stand a chance during the summer months here in Hotlanta. Neither do my sneakers. I like to wear them sans socks, and you know how that goes. Luckily, we’ll have a few weeks of distractions from the heat starting next weekend on August 8th, 2008 with the start of the Summer Olympics in Beijing.

There’s a lot of significance and superstition behind the number 8 in Chinese culture, therefore the opening ceremony of the Olympics will take place at 8:08:08 pm on 8.8.08. To commemorate the event, Nike has a number of sportswear releases dropping in stores everywhere (including your favorite ATL spots) next week on the 8th.

My favorites are these Nike Dunk High Supremes that come in Blue, Black, Red, Yellow, Green, and White (colors of the Olympic Rings & background color) that are made entirely of quilted patent leather. Details include octagon shapes resembling the Olympic Rings on the tongue. The Dunk is one of Nike’s four footwear icons, the others being the Air Force 1, Air Max 90, & the Cortez so it’s nice to see them as part of the Olympic celebration. Keep an eye out for a full blown version of NikeSportswear.com that will feature more octagon related releases and information. I hear the site will be officially launching next Friday [8.8.08]. Tell your friends so they don’t feel left out.

Round 2: PROCESS x EL BAR

July 28th, 2008 by Larry

It’s on! The PROCESS Season One photo shoot at El Bar had such a good turnout, that we’re going to ask our friends to blow it out again with a One Night Only release of the PROCESS Tomahawk tee in a colorway inspired by the Mexican flag. The tees will be for sale on a first-come, first-served basis at a serious “homeboy discount”. We’ll be taking happy snaps for our website as well. If that’s not enough reason to show up, the fact that Rob Wonder will be in the house should have you writing “EL BARZZZ SHAWTY” on your calendars for Thursday, August 14th. More details on coming soon.

MODA Mondays

July 27th, 2008 by Larry

On July 14th, Museum of Design Atlanta held a first in a series of quarterly parties at Trois which coincided with Bastille Day. The purpose of the gatherings called, MODA Mondays, are for supporters and members of the museum to meet, greet, network, and to increase membership registration. I highly encourage ATLiens to come out next time for drink specials and complimentary appetizers.

Taking PROCESS to Agenda

July 8th, 2008 by Larry

We’re taking PROCESS to Agenda in San Diego from September 4th — 6th. The Agenda Trade Show is a forum for the most inspired in the streetwear and action sports industries to unite. Lines speak for themselves and buyers are not intimidated by the usual overwhelming tradeshow experience. From the garage-run lines on the verge of explosion, to the well-established elite, Agenda caters to the needs of buyers and brands that exist on a higher level of design and aesthetic. With a strong emphasis in style, art, music and culture, the Agenda experience will be as much of a lesson as it is a tool for us to launch PROCESS.

Potential Buyers: if you would like to schedule an appointment with us, please email .

PROCESS — Press Check [6.14.08]

June 16th, 2008 by Larry

Video by Ross Martin

We just got back from our press check of the PROCESS line in Athens. Ross Martin borrowed Jorge’s video camera without asking so he could document our day. I have a feeling this is the first of many video blogs from Ross, as long as Jorge doesn’t mind.

Don’t forget to come out to the PROCESS Photoshoot/Launch Party at El Bar this Wednesday night (June 18th).

These are the final photos of our Medusa Armada Installation at Halo Lounge last Thursday. I hardly realized how quickly the evening went by between trying Halo’s signature “Dark & Stormy” drink and catching up with everyone who came out for support.

We’re looking forward to displaying alternate versions of Medusa Armada at more events and locations. If you guys know anyone at the Georgia Aquarium, let us know!

Check out a large version of Ross Martin’s photo of Medusa Armada after the jump.

PROCESS X Megan Huntz Dresses

May 23rd, 2008 by Larry

Click photo to purchase PROCESS X Megan Huntz Dresses collaborative tee

I know there are a lot of ladies that have been telling us we don’t make enough stuff for women. Well now you have nothing to complain about because we decided to release the first tee of our new line, PROCESS, exclusively for the ladies. This tee was created in collaboration with everybody’s girl, Megan Huntz which will be available at the next Megan Huntz Dresses showcase at Changing Room in Barcelona on Saturday June 14th.

Changing Room is held for one day only at the chic and basic hotel located in the historic center of Barcelona. 29 designers take over a room each and open to the public for a shopping extravaganza of the coolest, most cutting edge young designers in Barcelona. If you’re not able to attend the event in Barcelona you’re in luck…we’ve kept some tees stateside that you can pick up in our online store.

This tee is the first in a 2 part series. Part 2 will be available with the rest of the PROCESS line in the Spring of 2009 at your favorite boutiques nationwide. Until then, you’ll have to hope you’re lucky enough to score a PROCESS tee prototype directly from us or be invited to our private lookbook photoshoot later next month. We don’t have all the details set in stone for the lookbook photoshoot/party, but we’re pretty close. If you want to come, let us know immediately by emailing .

Check out more photos of the new tee after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

“Pop Art at Halo” [May 29]

May 18th, 2008 by Larry

flyer by EC

Come out and show your support for your boys (& girl) at Pop Art at Halo on May 29th. We’re unveiling our Medusa Armada 3D installation that night. It’s nice that Halo Lounge realizes the impact of the creative community here in town and wants to help showcase our work. “Ultra Lounge” type places don’t usually host events for local artists but hopefully this will be the beginning of a trend here in ATL. I guess “design” is mainstream these days. Anyway, admission is free for everyone before 10PM.

Participating Artists:
Chris Hamer of Urbn Pop, Epidemik Coalition & Ted Ullrich, Ted Murphy of Spooky Toons, Jenny “Bunns” Young of Apprentice Diaries, Ashley Zeltzer of Cartoon Network, Andrew Bellury, Pierre Cerrato, Drew Dominey, Thom Foolery, Amanda Goodbread, Jennifer Henley, Damon Hooks, Stephanie Howard, Brett Thompson, Todd Redner, Dan Young & more.

Sopo Bikes “Bicycle Frame Show”

April 18th, 2008 by Larry

Sopo Bicycle Cooperative is pleased to present their first ever Bicycle Frame Show, a group show of bicycle frames designed on and transformed by local artists and artist collectives. The show is at Green Certified Radial Cafe in Candler Park. Frames are on sale now for $200 each. Unsold and For-Auction-Only frames will be auctioned during the closing reception on Saturday, April 26, between 7 pm and 11 pm. The party features performances by Hot Toddy’s Flaming Cabaret, Atlanta Sedition Orchestra, and Lindsay Appel.

All proceeds benefit Sopo Bicycle Cooperative, your 501(c)3 nonprofit community bicycle repair shop, located in sunny East Atlanta.

It’s always great to participate in fresh, local art shows. We’ve been talking with Rachael Spiewak with Sopobikes.org; helping her brainstorm ideas for this show since last December. Not only did we get the opportunity to do a custom bike frame, but she asked us to design the show poster. Don’t miss out.

Megan Huntz @ Gen Art’s Fresh Faces Annual Fashion Show

April 10th, 2008 by Georgios

Our girl, Megan Huntz, has been selected for Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion annual fashion show in Miami on April 12th, 2008. This event features 9 top emerging designers from New York, Miami and Atlanta. This high profile affair will draw over 1,000 guests to the Gansevoort South in South Beach, for a runway show staged under the stars and over the pool with a direct backdrop of the ocean. Fresh Faces in Fashion has become Gen Art’s largest and most prestigious fashion program, created to propel the careers of up-and-coming fashion and accessories designers. Gen Art’s fashion events have proven to be a successful launch pad for notable designers including Zac Posen, Rebecca Taylor, Chaiken, Shoshanna, Cloak, Twinkle, Milly and Louis Verdad.

January 2008 marked the launch of Megan Huntz’s signature dress line at Dou 16 in Barcelona; a reflection of her personal expression of fashion based on her accumulated research and experiences. This dress line is an accumulation of Huntz’s design research and personal expression of fashion: a simple focused concept on one object of design, interesting materials that enrich it, accessible exclusivity and style that reflects fun and effortless elegance for everyday life. She says, “Wear one to do your grocery shopping!”

Megan Huntz Dresses is currently being sold at Zsu Zsa, a boutique that has become a classic staple of the super chic girls of Barcelona for over a decade. Zsu Zsa designs and sells its own label in its small but lovely shop in the Born neighborhood of Barcelona, together with collections of other young, up-and-coming designers.

Good Luck Megan!! We’re sure you’re gonna rock it in Miami. Hope you like the photo. You’re lucky we didn’t post some of the more scandalous photos, we’re saving those for when you become famous.

So if you happen to be in Miami this weekend, go show some love and support our girl.

FRESH FACES IN FASHION
Saturday, April 12
8:00pm - 11:00pm

8:00pm - Cocktails & Accessories Showcase
9:00pm - Runway Show
10:00pm - Post Show Reception
11:00pm – After-party at PLUNGE (Gansevoort’s Rooftop Pool Lounge)

EL BAR Lives

March 1st, 2008 by Larry

“Wall-to-wall Action” are the only words to describe EL BAR’s “last party”. Hundreds showed up to kill it for a final time… but there’s good news as EL BAR won’t be closing after all. There are tons of rumors about what went down, but with a few last minute negotiations, the end result will keep the doors open. Thanks to Colleen, Slugger, Presto, Rob Wonder and the EL BAR crew for keeping it epic. Atlanta needed this.

Check out Ross Martin’s flickr for more photos.

Viva Studio Spring Tour at EC

February 20th, 2008 by Georgios

web_2277552563_46987a1343_b.jpg

This Monday, a group of students from Georgia Tech called Viva Studio, visited our studio at The Center for Design Study. Viva is an open group of friends who believe in the awesomeness of studio culture. They feel that, as compared to other academic models, studio allows for the creation of uncommon relationships and bodies of work. Viva exists, at its core, to celebrate that and connect people who feel the same way.

We collaborated together on a T-shirt design for the studio tour and got everyone to bring some blanks. We screen printed, drank some beer, ate some pretzels and screen printed some more. We even let them experiment with some of our other screens, luckily no one died. Thanks to Ted Ullrich and Josh Tuminella for hooking us up with the photos. If you want to see more photos from this Monday’s tour or of their past tours, click here.

More photos from Viva Studio @ EC after the jump.

Museum of Design Atlanta presents:

January 21st, 2008 by Larry

In cooperation with Knoll, MODA presents the first exhibition to examine the complete range of furniture designs of Eero Saarinen. Widely heralded as America’s foremost architect in the 1950s, Eero Saarinen (1910 - 1961) gained his earliest international prominence with his prize winning furniture designs done with your boy, Charles Eames, for the 1941 Museum of Modern Art Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition.

Saarinen’s subsequent cooperation with his life-long friend Florence Knoll resulted in his most noted designs: the Grasshopper Chair, the Womb Chair and derivative 70-Series searing and the iconic Pedestal Series of tables and chairs.

Designs for Everyday Living presents examples of Saarinen’s early furniture designs, sketches, photographs and descriptions of each of Saarinen’s collections, including a rare remaining example of the MoMA Organic Design chairs. Knoll has provided archival examples and pieces of Saarinen’s timeless designs from current production.

The Furniture of Eero Saarinen: Designs for Everyday Living
Museum of Design Atlanta
Opening Reception: January 31st, 5 pm - 8 pm

Congrats to our girl, Ansley Whipple, for her hard work in getting this exhibit together. We can’t wait to come through on the 31st!
