Earlier this year, I got together with the Byrd Boys (Kevin & Aaron) and helped them with their Cops on Bikes music video. They’ll be showing it continuously at the Granite Room in Castleberry Hill from Friday October 12th — November 1st. The show, curated by mary stanley studio, features new work from twenty-one talented photography and video artists under age thirty. These young artists, raised in a global society, are well traveled, technology savvy, sensitive, and have strikingly different attitudes and expectations.

Alright folks, last night was the opening for Mint Gallery’s “What’s Your Twenty?” art show. We introduced prototype art for Georgios’ Tobacco Cowboy and part one of my designer logo deconstruction project. Thanks to the kids at Mint Gallery for putting on a great show! We grabbed after-show drinks with Ross Martin of Ayy Gurl Studios at Limerick Junction. Check out all the photos here.
Shortly after midnight, Shock Cinema took the stage and proceeded to melt our faces. It was awesome to see Destiny, Autry, and crew doing their thing in the ATL again. I finally picked up a copy of their album Our Way is Revenge and swiped a few of their nifty buttons. Click Here for photos of the show.
We’re so excited about hanging out with the fun kids at MINT Gallery this Saturday night [9/29] for the “What’s Your Twenty?” art show. Last month we participated in MINT’s Mixtape show, but they’ve seriously busted their brains to come up with this new show idea. MINT is taking artist submissions from great local artists and they’re selling everything for $20. So you’ll be able to score some killer work for cheap if you come out early. Georgios and I will be submitting some one of a kind pieces as well. So keep an eye out!

Also, congrats to Beep Beep Gallery and Thoughtmarker Blog for getting voted into Creative Loafing’s Best of Atlanta List.
Seriously, Shock Cinema is my favorite Atlanta band. Well, technically they’re from New York now but they got their start here in the ATL and moved over a year ago. They’ve since been signed to a record label and they’ve recently released an album called Our Way Is Revenge. Pitchfork only gave it a 5.4 but we all know that they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Being a film school nerd and noise-junkie, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed their live shows which feature visual remixes of classic horror films. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you have no excuse to miss this event. I have no doubt that their Return to the Dirty Dirty is going to be incredible.

Here’s some quick shots from last night’s Sneaker Pimps Atlanta show. Joe from Ayy Gurl Studios brought his camera along to document our adventure. Along the way, we caught a great set by Clipse, drank free Red Bull vodkas, ran into some Black Eyed Peas wannabes, laughed at some 14 year-old/prep school/hip-hop groupies, peeped Yung Joc hitting on booty dancers, grabbed shots with our favorite bartender, Colleen, over at El Bar, and scarfed some late night Majestic crinkle fries. Peep the photos here.
Here’s a few events that will be taking place in Atlanta during the next few weeks that we highly recommend:
First off, our good friend & Creative Circus rival, Evan McHugh, will be playing songs from his latest album, From the Second Chair at Smith’s Olde Bar on Thursday, September 20th at 8pm. I’ll be there assisting Jorge Menes, as he captures Evan in action.
Secondly, sneakerheads unite at Sneaker Pimps Atlanta this Saturday night at Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center. This globally touring sneaker show is back in Atlanta for the 4th year, and they’ve finally hooked-up the ATL with a deserving performance from the Clipse. We’ll be out supporting our boys at Standard who are sponsoring the event.
Lastly, our buddy, Garrett Moore will be making a homecoming tour stop at Eddie’s Attic on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:30pm. Be sure to pick up his album, Fireseed, that we designed last month.
We had a small party for my birthday over at The Center for Design Study last night. Thanks to everyone who came out to show us some love! It was great for everyone to see the awesome building and I had fun drinking Heineken, Gran Marnier, Port, & Crown Royal with you all! Make sure you tell everyone about the sweet party favors! If you wanna see more photos from the party, click here.
The MIXT art show at MINT gallery contained fresh mixtape related art from many local artists. It was a very exciting night with many amazing art pieces that were also auctioned off. A raffle was held in which we donated a couple of Angelica Tees that went to two lucky winners. Special thanks to Andrew Bellury and the rest of the MINT crew for allowing us be a part of this great event.
This Saturday night [8/25], come out to MINT Gallery to check out a fresh mixtape related art show dubbed MIXT. We’ve contributed one of our world famous Boomcase/Briefboxes designed with Kevin Byrd from Armchair Media. We’ve also included our Mixtape #1 by Quantuum 7Thousand of Brooklyn and a stack of surprise EC tees. There will be an Auction for artwork and a Raffle, so be sure to show up to win some goods and support local artists.
It’s going to be a really strong show. Other featured artists include: Amanda Goodbread, Jess Hinshaw, Margaret Wright, Jason Travis, Andy Imm, Justin Davis, Emily Maxell, Jenny Anderson, Josephy Lawsky, J.R. Schulz, Jaimie Hopper, Lee Summers, Rebekah White, Christina Bowman, John Wilson, Harold McNaron, Gundrun Stone, Christy Chaffin, Silas Reeves, The Daemon King, Andrew Bellury, Morisca Valdez, Sunni Johnson, Thom Foolery, Mike Germon, Erica Jamison, & Marilyn Chen.

Rehab brought the house down, enduring the intense heat of the Georgia Theatre on Saturday night in Athens. Standing in the back of the room under a fan, I was still sweating bullets. I can’t imagine what it was like on stage for the Rehab boys, or Jorge Menes who popped off some amazing shots of the band throughout the afternoon and evening.
See all the photos by Jorge Menes here or by clicking the picture above.
Thanks to Rehab and Demun Jones for giving us this opportunity to showcase our design work and for taking Jorge’s rock and roll career to the next level. Special thanks to Danny Boone for the mid-show shout out to “Big Larry Larr” before “Red Water”.
Jorge Menes and I are going to Athens to shoot photos of Rehab for their biggest show of the summer. We’re hoping to use the images for their upcoming live album and future promotional items.
The picture above is a proof for the tour poster that Jorge and I worked up for them, but it got shot down by ReverbNation and Myspace for being “too graphic”. Click the picture above to see the dumbed down version of the tour poster that we worked out. The designing process always comes down to what the client wants, right?
Get your tickets for the show at Rehab’s page.
Upcoming news on projects with Coca-Cola and the EC Medusa 2 tee coming soon! Stay tuned…
Jorge Menes did half of the camera work of this documentary about our Apple iPhone line-waiting experience.
Some pertinent info on how it went down:
-The Mall was scheduled to open at 8am but opened early at 7am.
-The Apple Store closed down from 2pm-6pm to prepare for the iPhone launch.
-By the time the Apple Store reopened its doors, there were over 350 people in line.
-Customers were allowed to buy a maximum of 2 iPhone units.
Here’s a list of music used (try not to sue us): Knife - Heartbeat
The Rub - Radiohead vs. Lil’ Scrappy & A-Trak
KanYe West/Peter Bjorn & John - Young Folks

Finally thanks to Tony and the Octane staff for being so welcoming and generous by letting our crowd invade their space and by picking up our hefty bar tab. Here’s to more amazing events like this in the future. As Jessica said, “We need to have more functions like that!”
