Do you ever wonder why the things you love cost as much as they do? I came across this interesting analysis while shopping for my next digital camera. If you’re curious as to how companies like Leica come up with their pricing ranges, or how any company calculates value in the products they sell, give this article a look.

Any ketchup fan will tell you: Getting that last dollop of the red stuff out of the bottle is a headache – and it normally just ends up in the bin. But now, a radical new bottle design could spell the end of that problem forever.

The MIT university team came up with LiquiGlide, a ‘super-slippery’ coating which makes the insides of the bottle so frictionless that the sludgy goo inside just slides out like water. The results are astonishing – and any burger and chips fan out there should prepare to be amazed.

Ugh… this dude inserts magnets into his wrist to hold his iPod like a watch. What do you think about this? Do you think this bro is taking form & function too far? What happens when Apple introduces a new iPod body style? I feel like this is a very short-sighted commitment of pain… perhaps that’s why the soundtrack to this video is so damn emo!

As creatives we are always looking for new and interesting ways to get the “word” out. It’s not so much finding a cute way of saying the same old thing, but a fresh take on telling a great story. In this case, TNT in Belgium nailed it. TNT asked, “What happens when you push the button?” A few inquisitive folks found out. A sign above the button simply read, “Push to add drama.”

It’s been a little over two years since I lost my little angel, Cammy. Those of you who knew her continue to remind me how much they miss her. To most folks, she was the average household pet, but to me she was my partner-in-crime (like ‘Jake’ from “Adventure Time”). We were inseparable. She will go down in history as one of the all-time greatest: quiet yet bitchy; loving yet distant; happy yet curious for what was around the corner.

It’s a hard thing losing your ‘best friend’; you sometimes catch yourself calling for them, swear their spirit is coming out in a surviving pet, or see another dog, “That has to be her!!” Which brings me to my question, “Can dogs have doppelgangers?” For me, Maddie give me my answer. I have been blessed by the ether to stumble upon a gem of blog and the spitting image of my sweet girl. If you have a second, check out MaddieOnThings.com. 5 Things I Want for Christmas

1. That long-awaited, much-anticipated Jay Electronica album. I ran into Jay-Z’s long-time engineer Young Guru after the Watch the Throne show in Houston earlier this month, but forgot to ask him whether or not we’d be gifted this LP before the end of 2011. Sounds like it won’t be ready just yet when I listen to this.

2. This signed copy of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby”. Granted, it’s not my favorite work of his – I prefer This Side of Paradise, but this is pretty damn special.

3. One of these photographs by Pierre Verger’s “Black Americas” collection spanning from the 1930s Deep South to Harlem. I have this one, and it’s been one of the few pieces of art that has accompanied me over the last decade from college to DC and back to Austin.

4. This white tux by Paul Smith. I saw it in L.A. while shopping for an outfit to wear to the Grammys, and wasn’t ready to drop $1,800 on it. Now that I’ve been to the Paul Smith stores in New York and its company headquarters in London to learn that the tux was only for sell in that L.A. store, I’m hoping it’s waiting for me when I go back to Lakerland in a month or two.

5. And the Baron Wells bowtie to complete the look. I’ve never worn a bowtie, even when I was the best man in a good friend’s wedding. I’m holding out for that Paul Smith tux to make my bowtie debut. Actually, these would complete the look.
