Shock Cinema: Return to the Dirty Dirty
Seriously, Shock Cinema is my favorite Atlanta band. Well, technically they’re from New York now but they got their start here in the ATL and moved over a year ago. They’ve since been signed to a record label and they’ve recently released an album called Our Way Is Revenge. Pitchfork only gave it a 5.4 but we all know that they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Being a film school nerd and noise-junkie, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed their live shows which feature visual remixes of classic horror films. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you have no excuse to miss this event. I have no doubt that their Return to the Dirty Dirty is going to be incredible.

Upcoming Events

Here’s a few events that will be taking place in Atlanta during the next few weeks that we highly recommend:
First off, our good friend & Creative Circus rival, Evan McHugh, will be playing songs from his latest album, From the Second Chair at Smith’s Olde Bar on Thursday, September 20th at 8pm. I’ll be there assisting Jorge Menes, as he captures Evan in action.
Secondly, sneakerheads unite at Sneaker Pimps Atlanta this Saturday night at Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center. This globally touring sneaker show is back in Atlanta for the 4th year, and they’ve finally hooked-up the ATL with a deserving performance from the Clipse. We’ll be out supporting our boys at Standard who are sponsoring the event.
Lastly, our buddy, Garrett Moore will be making a homecoming tour stop at Eddie’s Attic on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:30pm. Be sure to pick up his album, Fireseed, that we designed last month.
Mark your calendars!

Megan Huntz. Irreplaceable.

Megan Huntz has taken our process to the next level. Now we’re working with dyes, deconstructing tees, putting zippers where they’re not supposed to be, and even printing on unitards. We’ll reveal all of the crazy-collaborations in due time (most of which are one-off originals). We’re getting our ideas on the table while she’s still here. She’ll be leaving us for Italy in October and we’ll be forced to collaborate via the web. That’s why we’re doing everything we can to convince her not to leave, but I don’t think it’s working.
We’re also combining the Medusa II photo shoot with Megan Huntz Dresses on the 23rd of September. Send models. We are still looking for two more.
In other news, we’ll have Project Fourt @ Coke HQ updates soon, along with submissions for another awesome show with the fun kids at MINT Gallery at the end of the month. Have a good weekend guys!

Farewell Studio!

Georgios and I have completed our portfolios and we have the opportunity to take EC to the next level. We’re moving EC operations to a new studio to help out Rick Anwyl (former owner of EAI) at the Center for Design Studies. This is going to be an amazing opportunity to learn more about branding, identity work, and to grow as designers under his wing. More updates coming real soon. Keep it locked…
We’re going to miss our old studio at Portfolio Center and we want to give big-ups to Hank Richardson, Tania Rochelle, Melissa Kuperminc, and the rest of the staff who’ve shown nothing but overwhelming support for the past 2 years.
Noah Levens and Yuri Majic are taking over the old digs and we wish them the best as they work on their portfolios (and everyone else’s silk-screening projects).

Down South Design

So last night was our Down South Design presentation at SCAD Atlanta, and it went soooo well. Thank you to everyone who helped put the entire thing together, to the other presenters and especially to everyone who came out who is now part of the EC army. Thanks to Jared Dalcort for filming the entire presentation and grabbing photos and for being more helpful and supportive than we could have ever asked for. And, we did meet Mychael Knight. Chilled with him in the green room, and got to take some pics too. Here is our very own tentenlarry and Lacey with Mychael himself.

It’s awesome how us Portfolio Center brats have been invited invited to speak at SCAD about being designers in the Dirty, Dirty South.
