2008 is going to be a big year for ATL’s design community and hopefully for Epidemik Coalition as well. We’ve created Atlanta-centric designs before, but this is definitely the most progressive. Georgios is predicting “big things poppin’ in 2008″ by presenting us with his modern reinterpretation of “the A” after hacking apart his favorite (and appropriately named) typeface, Futura.

We’ve also been watching a lot of old-school Mike Tyson fights and Rocky movies, hence our recent obsession with clean/classic heather grey. This is our unique remix of a gym-rat “basic” with modern lines that’ll keep you warm all winter. Note the subtle color gradient and the embroidered EC logo on the left cuff. A few months ago, Mike Germon of ThoughtMarker (ATL’s #1 Art Blog) asked us to throw down on a tee project commemorating his first year of documenting Atlanta’s art and design scene on the internet.

This “Thought Bubble” graphic plays on the well known EC Speech Bubble design and also takes on traits of our new crest design. We’re printing it with our brightest inks and tees and it definitely stands out.

In anticipation of the release of tomorrow’s Medusa II tee you’d think we didn’t have anything else up our sleeves. Well, let’s kick it off early with the release of our new Winged Crest Crew Sweatshirts! This new graphic is a reinvention of our original crest from 2005 and this also marks the first time we’ve done crew sweats. Medusa II will finally be for sale at 12 noon EST on Friday, December 7th in our studio at The Center for Design Study and in the Epidemik Coalition Online Store. In addition to unveiling the final Medusa II graphic, we’re releasing final production photos right here at EpidemikCoalition.com on Friday.

Yes, that’s right. The “Guajiro” Tee is finally complete. Here’s a sneak peek at the new “Guajiro” tee coming out soon. Similar in style as the “Cubano” tee, it will have a little surprise inside the collar. For any of you that have “Cubano” tee, you know what I mean. Keep checking back for more updates.

The wait is almost over! This is the final teaser image for our Medusa II tee that we’ve been planning for several months now. We’re making the final tweaks on the graphic and turning to our friends Andrew & Ed at Danger Press for help with the production end. Like we always do at EC, every printed garment will remain unique in its own way. Believe me, you’re going to fall out when you see the finished piece.

I apologize for the lack of updates (we’ve been really busy), but here’s a juicy one. Last weekend, Jorge Menes captured some great images for us to use on our “Medusa II” tee. Here’s a sneak peek/extreme close-up of our favorite shot. Thanks to Carla Gunter for doing a great job of modeling underwater. I know it’s not easy, according to America’s Next Top Model. Here’s a sneak peek of the Bass Not Bombs tee that will be available in the Epidemik Coalition Online Store in a few weeks. This was originally designed for a school project of mine while I was at Portfolio Center, and now we’ve decided to print a run of these tees just to fulfill everyone’s requests. We’re still deciding on the colorways and whether or not we’re going to have Megan Huntz throw some zippers on their fronts. If you’ve got a color suggestion, let’s hear it now.

To pay tribute to our motto and to commemorate a new phase of EC, we collaborated with Megan Huntz Dresses on this Limited Edition Black Pearl/Gold colorway. Every piece has been hand-dyed by Megan herself and has a vintage softness we’ve never achieved before. We’ve designed this new tee just for the ladies out there who love EC. The EC Lovers Tee is filled with quotes and shout outs to some of our favorite things (cheese grits, crunk music), friends of EC (Menes Productions, Standard), and inside jokes. Jorge Menes and I are going to Athens to shoot photos of Rehab for their biggest show of the summer. We’re hoping to use the images for their upcoming live album and future promotional items.

The picture above is a proof for the tour poster that Jorge and I worked up for them, but it got shot down by ReverbNation and Myspace for being “too graphic”. Whew! What a night! ATL Kicks was a total success for Octane, Coffee Kids, and Epidemik Coalition. The turnout of people for a Wednesday night party was huge. Everyone had a great time and we raised some cash for a good cause.

Kick off the summer with a benefit party at Octane Coffee Bar & Lounge & 1*FIVE*0 Boutique on Wednesday, June 6th at 9pm.
The event will feature custom PF Flyers and sneaker photography from local artists such as Hense, Mr. Fangs, Evereman, Epidemik Coalition & More.
There will be DJ’s bumping tracks all night and a special performance by Y.O.U. at 1*FIVE*0.
Silent Auction to be held to raise money for the Coffee Kids Organization.
