Our friends, Shock Cinema, have a new album out on Kanine Records called Hell and High Water. I hear it’s part of a five part series of albums (so it seems they’ve already mapped out their plans for the next few years). Anyway, it is definitely their best effort to date and it is available for download on iTunes.
Also, Shock Cinema is playing a show at Rehab in New York tonight. You can watch it live here at 10:30pm EST. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to stay in NYC for another night. Otherwise I’d be there in person!
We just got back from our press check of the PROCESS line in Athens. Ross Martin borrowed Jorge’s video camera without asking so he could document our day. I have a feeling this is the first of many video blogs from Ross, as long as Jorge doesn’t mind.
Don’t forget to come out to the PROCESS Photoshoot/Launch Party at El Bar this Wednesday night (June 18th).
For all you process lovers, here’s a production video of our laser-cut, acrylic jellyfish for our installation in Pop Art at Halo, taking place at Halo Lounge on May 29th. We’ve been working with Ted Ullrich who has been making the concept structurally sound.
Dave Werner, of okaydave.com & okaysamurai.com fame rocks a one of a kind Angelica II tee in this month’s webisode of Carrier Pigeon. If you haven’t seen Carrier Pigeon before, you need to. Let DW drop some knowledge on you! [watch Carrier Pigeon]
Dave, thanks for the props and keep up the good work!
Chris Black & Done to Death hooked-up the Epidemik Coalition crew with a copy of the new Cartel album that drops tomorrow (August 21st). Chroma was a great album and this one’s going to be even better.
Make sure you pick one upHEREand they’ll send you anautographed copy. Show your support for the local boys, my copy is on the way.
Oh, and watch my video walkthrough of the album packaging.
Jorge Menes did half of the camera work of this documentary about our Apple iPhone line-waiting experience.
Some pertinent info on how it went down:
-The Mall was scheduled to open at 8am but opened early at 7am.
-The Apple Store closed down from 2pm-6pm to prepare for the iPhone launch.
-By the time the Apple Store reopened its doors, there were over 350 people in line.
-Customers were allowed to buy a maximum of 2 iPhone units.
Here’s a list of music used (try not to sue us): Knife - Heartbeat
The Rub - Radiohead vs. Lil’ Scrappy & A-Trak
KanYe West/Peter Bjorn & John - Young Folks
Brothers Aaron and Kevin Byrd’s newest creative endeavor is Cops on Bikes by Thriller 2. These guys are always doing experimental/creative things for fun. Not only is it refreshing to see good people doing good things like this, it’s also great that they involve as many of their friends as they can. Stefan Kjartansson [my typography mentor & caffeine pusher] did all the hand lettering in the video and I was asked do the styling and make a guest appearance. Try and spot the EC goodness when you head over to the Cops on Bikes music video page at byrdhousetv.com.
Chi-Chi and his fanny pack came to Portfolio Center yesterday. I was asked to film his visit and present my documentary for the Winter 2007 New Student Orientation that will take place on the 2nd of January.
YouTube is being finicky, so be patient and turn your volume up!
It’s about 20 minutes long, so everyone ought to check this out because not only can you get a good overview of where EC came from, you can also check out the entire presentation including interviews and pre-show jitters. Check this out, it’s not to be missed.
George did a quick presentation yesterday and we put together this video celebrating the happenings from the past year. Here’s to the next year of Epidemik Coalition success! Thanks to everyone all over the country who’ve been so supportive.
Shout out to Girl Talk for the soundtrack.
Mary Campbell and Audrey Gould made this video for 1st Quarter Orientation at Portfolio Center the other day. They totally gave Epidemik Coalition some major props. Thanks girls!
The killer mix you’re hearing is called “Smash Your Head” by Girl Talk
Look for EC all over town and we’ll see you at the Girl Talk show at Azul in October.
TURN THE VOLUME UP on the vid…
