Faster Mustache 24 Hour Urban Bike Relay

Franco from XTM Online sent me this video from last weekend’s Faster Mustache 24 Hour Urban Bike Relay. It’s raw footage at this point, but it’s just a taste of what he’ll be compiling for a larger project. I know Ted has raced in this event before and it’s especially neat to watch the riders near and around our old digs downtown.

Today I got back all but one roll (stupid, I know) of the rest of my film from my trip to Seattle. I had not used a Holga for years but I bought one before this trip just to see what I could get. Every one of these cameras is different and its always cool to see the differences.

One of my favorite artists, Steven Dixey, is showing new pieces in a series called The Road to Damascus at Beep Beep Gallery on Saturday night. I’ve been anticipating this show for months now. If you call yourself a fan of the arts, you HAVE to see his iconic work. Hopefully we’ll be able to pick up something nice for the Treehouse!

Our New Orleans buddies, The Buttons, just released this fun video for their track, Roller Rock. I remember seeing some photo outtakes of the video shoot from Jorge & Jhes a couple months back. If you look closely, you can see they got some face time in the vid. Hilarious! Spread the word!

Luis Fabiano - O Emprego Mais Difícil do Mundo

You don’t need to understand Portuguese (or Turkish) to see the storytelling here. Clearly Luis Fabiano and Brazil are gunning hard for the World Cup in South Africa. I wonder what a campaign like this with Landon Donovan would be received by American audiences…

Where are you from?
Born in Tennessee, lived in Las Vegas for a few years, Lived in Albuquerque for a 7 years, and I’ve been in GA for the last 12. I feel very much like I’m a product of the lower half of the US.

Who do you work for?
At the moment I work for myself. I was working as a Cabinet maker at Thomsen Ltd. but times are bad and I got laid off last week.

What are your Current Project(s)?
I have a couple of community art projects I’ve been working on recently.
The first is called dividing lines. I took a canvas and painted a 10″ red stripe down the center. Then I handed it off to a friend who painted a slightly smaller beige/seasalt line down the center. It’s been through 4 friends hands so far and the changes keep getting better. I’m hoping to get the lines down to the point where the final line is a pencil line. you can check that out on my flickr page.

The second is about to start. I went around to local thrift stores and picked up about 40 LP’s. I’m going to distribute them to my more graphically inclined friends and each will be challenged to design something to be laser etched onto the LP that is an interpritation of the band name or album title. We’ll be doing an exhibition somewhere once it’s done. Pictures will go up once it’s done too.

I’m also working on a bid packet to get the North American Hard Court Bike Polo Championships in Atlanta.  Outside of making stuff, bike polo is my life.

Who would you love to work with?
My standard answer used to be Sam Maloof, even at 90 years old he was a fantastic furniture designer and fabricator. He passed away last March and since then my aspiration has changed just to work with the people I graduated with a few months ago. All the kids I graduated with are fantastic designers. Other than that sappy answer most of the people I pine to work with are all dead. Charles Eames, Hans Wegner, Eero Saarenin, Frank Lloyd Wright, Lewis Comfort Tiffany, etc. Also I’d trade a finger to work with any bike company on Bike Polo Gear.

If you had to give all your sneakers away to charity except for one pair, which ones would you keep?
My bright purple suede Puma RS-1’s, I only wear them one or twice a year so I can have them forever.

What’s on your iPod right now?
Fashion Nugget by Cake.

What’s your Favorite ATL food?
This is tough but The Bone Garden Cantina has hands down the best Traditional Mexican food in town.

What’s your Favorite ATL hangout?
The Porter, in Little 5, is becoming my new bar hangout. It’s a poor man’s Brickstore, but 15 min closer to my place than Decatur, and the food is great.

If I’m just drinking Coffee I love going to Octane for an Americola (Expresso+Coke=fantastic).

Also if you’re really into fruity drinks and fruity bartenders Joe Elvis at Papi’s is hilarious, I’ve definately spent a number of Friday nights hanging out there.

What are your Pet Peeves?
Karim Rashid… and his big ass glasses. Can’t stand that guy. Also the fonts Comic Sans, Papyrus, and Copperplate Gothic. And in Bike Polo, AGS Street Hockey Balls.

Shout outs?
Josh Tuminella, Michael Gluzman, and My friends at Resource

Another Dirty Octopi Sketch

sketch_teaser.jpg

I started sketching this graphic the other day thinking it might go well with PROCESS‘ Fall/Winter efforts. I still need to tweak the composition a little bit before re-rendering it for a print-ready situation. Peeps who are playing in our Fantasy Football League may have noticed a fully rendered comp of this graphic on my team’s profile (Dirty South Octopi). We’ll definitely fit it in the collection if I can make changes and meet production deadlines. Otherwise, it is a head start on some fun stuff for Spring.

Thanks to Franco for spotting this one on MTV Jams today:
DJ Greg Street from Atlanta’s V-103 radio station made a cameo in this video repping one of our out-of-stock & (regrettably) out-of-production fitteds from this Spring. If you were lucky enough to score one, congrats. It’s a collectors item now! I’m not at liberty to elaborate on that any more.

PROCESS Fantasy Football League

Category: Process, Misc.
August 21st, 2009 by Larry

Football season is upon us, and we’ve decided to run a fantasy league this year. It’ll be my first time to play, since I’m die-hard Cowboys & Falcons, I find it hard to draft/root for enemy players (Redskins/Eagles/Giants/Saints/Panthers/Bucs/etc). Anyway, I’m putting my hatred aside this season to have some fun with you bros and gals.

The top 3 team owners will receive hefty PROCESS prize packs.

Sign up by emailing us at . You’ll receive a registration email from ESPN shortly after that. Spots are limited, so make sure you sign up soon!

Draft day is Sunday, August 30th at 1pm EST.
You can choose to autodraft as well.

Photo Friday: Tilt-Shift Photography

August 21st, 2009 by Joe

dsc_9312-2.jpg

What’s up world?? This is Joe Martinez, taking over for my good friend Ross for this week’s Photo Friday. I wanted to share some images I created during my recent trip to Greece last month. This is my second trip to Europe this year, and my first time in the Mediterranean. I definitely took advantage of the beautiful weather, good food, and amazing scenery. It was also a great opportunity to practice a fun technique that some of you may have seen floating around the internet. “Tilt-shift photography” is a selective focus technique using a specialized lens that controls the orientation of the plane of focus of a particular scene or subject. The results vary, but it’s possible to achieve what some have dubbed “fake miniature” photography, creating the illusion of a miniature or toy model look. Some clever Photoshop enthusiasts found a way to do this without the use of this lens making the technique available to anyone with a little patience, the right image, and few Photoshop tools. A simple Google search will provide you with several tutorials on how to achieve your own tilt-shift images. More T-S photos from Greece after the jump! Read more »
