Belle & Sebastian - I’m Waiting For The Man

January 10th, 2009 by Larry

Ted mentioned the other day that it has been far too long since I’ve posted any new music. That’s because during the holidays, the music industry tends to focus on releasing albums from mainstream artists that have proven track records. Therefore, there’s nothing to mention that you haven’t already heard. One of the few gems that I’ve been enjoying as of late is Belle & Sebastian’s BBC Sessions. It’s a double disc album that contains an entire live show from Christmas of 2001. One of my favorite tracks is their live cover of the Velvet Underground’s I’m Waiting For The Man. Here’s to looking forward to new music discoveries this Spring/Summer!

Photo Friday: Hans Gissinger

January 9th, 2009 by Jorge

01.jpg

Back in the saddle for another installment of Photo Friday. I have always been a fan a telling stories; one’s that are worth hearing. My apologies if you have already heard this one:

When I was a student at Portfolio Center, I was handed a rather interesting assignment: Contact your hero (a photographer), and create a photo in his honor. How do I do that? The pucker factor on this was pretty high, but you would be surprised how easy it is to get your idol on the phone. After just one email, me and Hans Gissinger scheduled a phone conversation (while on vacation with his family in Miami no less). At the end of our talk, I asked him why he agreed to speak to me. He simply stated, “I like to talk.”

Hans Gissinger is the man! Currently represented by Stockland Martel, shooting both portrait and still life for such clients as Nike, Conde Nast, Cartier, and Ford; with his lastest project, TARTAS (exploding pastries). So here’s to one of my heroes; enjoy.

erin_warner.jpg

Erin is a recent graduate of Auburn University and has brought her graphic design skills to Atlanta. We’ve invited to her to post-up in our studio while she learns more about the creative culture of the city. She’s been helping us design the PROCESS online store that is slated to launch in mid-February. Also, we’ve added some of her choice pieces to the EC Portfolio.

I’ve always said that there is something in Atlanta’s water. Just remember to filter your H20 before you drink it. Keep a look out on the blog for a sneak peek of a summer tee design.

Back to Work ‘09

January 5th, 2009 by Larry

Our downtown Atlanta studio was bustling this morning, as everyone on team EC was finally in one place to meet and discuss the launch of our PROCESS line and our studio goals for 2009. It feels good to shed that holiday weight and get back to work.

Motive 807

January 5th, 2009 by Larry

motive807.jpg

I dropped by Motive807, Austin Texas’ world-famous streetwear & sneaker boutique, while I was in town last week. They carry many great brands and boast the best sneaker selection for a single store in the southwest. Fahad, the store’s owner, let me take some photos of the shop, gave me his thoughts on the NFL playoffs, and he suggested some Austin grub to check out. See store photos after the jump.

Hello and happy new year to everyone out there that is reading this right now! I hope everyone had a great holiday season with their family and friends. I would like to say thank you to everyone at EL Bar for setting up an awesome celebration and it was great to see everyone there!

Most of you out there have been spending the past week or so looking at end of the year top ten lists and best of 2008 lists on various blogs and so I figured I would follow in that vein and put up some of my favorite images from the year.

Not pictured are the 2009 V.I.P./No Cover keychains that were also handed out at the door. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it an extra-special evening!
