Yesterday, StyleX & GoTryItOn.com launched a tweet-based brand showdown/popularity contest between all StyleX exhibitors. We immediately sent the message out to our followers and got a huge response. Thank you!
If you have a twitter account please login and send your vote our way. This could swing the fate of our South by Southwest experience in a good way if we are to stay on top of the leaderboard.
All you need to do is tweet the following:
I’m voting #wearit for @wearetheprocess at @stylexaustin! http://gotryiton.com/sxsw

So here’s a glimpse of our booth set-up for Style X. It’s missing a few finishing touches, but we decided it was in our best interest to get a rough feel for set-up day. It’s sure to be a stressful load-in, so we wanted to work out any kinks in the comfort of our own studio beforehand.

A few months back, Matt Halfhill from Nice Kicks called me about working on a special collection of clothing and hats for his brand. Rather than do the typical “collab”, I suggested we do something a little different, hence the idea for Nice Kicks vs. We Are the Process. Since both brands represent their region of the Southern USA, we decided to brand this showdown as The Southern Series. There are a lot of element from the Process brand that were easy to carry over into the baseball aesthetic, however Nice Kicks needed some new elements to be created by us. Parts of their branding already existed, but the most important new identity mark we created for them was an western-inspired interlocking NK logo. What do y’all think? Check out more photos and the official press release jargon after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

This is what JSol looks like when he’s working
Recently, we spent the afternoon in the studio of JSol & Apple Juice planning a few future projects. Last summer we created the artwork for their “Hit & Run Mixtape” that you can download here.

As some of you already know, I’ve been teaching design at Portfolio Center for over a year now. In addition to being part of EC Design Co. and We Are the Process, sometimes it’s my other-other job that inspires me. It’s refreshing to be around eager designers and I found that I love helping students see their visions become a reality.
I always enjoy looking at the signatures on the Portfolio Center faculty timecards. In an industry where lettering and control of hand are scrutinized intensely, it’s almost as if you can predict a personality based on the way these creatives write their own names!

Here’s a photo from a recent press check for our new We Are the Process collection. Here’s the base layer screen for our Dirty South Cowgirl graphic tee. This screen was printed with discharge ink to allow for the other colors to print directly into the fabric of the shirt.

This is what I’ve been listening to for a few days straight ever since JSol & Apple Juice played it for us while we were meeting on an upcoming project this week. New sound of ATL? Maaaybe!

We recently decided that we needed a real world version of the “Dirty South” flag from our Thirteen graphic tee. We knew we wanted to use it in shooting our Spring ‘11 lookbook and we also wanted something substantial and meaningful to display in our space at StyleX. Here are some photos detailing the process of creating this icon. Read the rest of this entry »
