Tobie Hatfield is Innovation Director in NIKE’s Innovation Kitchen. In the early 2000s Tobie and a group of colleagues began a journey to find a way to bring to life the concept of training barefoot, a technique that helps strengthen the foot. Their goal was to create a product that replicated barefoot training while offering the support and traction of a lightweight performance shoe. This is the story of the birth of NIKE FREE.

Megan Huntz‘ dresses are usually named after one of her female friends. Since her new collection features a pair of pants, she decided to flip the script and name them after yours truly. How many people can say they have a pair of pants named after them? Not many… not many…
I met up with the Atlanta Hawks 6th Man section in Charlotte while the group was in town to cheer the Hawks to victory against the Bobcats over the weekend. It was great seeing that the Hawks are indeed popular in other NBA cities. We saw quite a few ATL fans holding it down at Time Warner Cable Arena. While we sat in the upper deck, our voices were still heard on the court. Need evidence? Check the tweets after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

I recently discovered my new favorite band during our adventures in Austin a few weeks back. I met up with Julie Wheat of Cavortress and the rest of her crew and we randomly stumbled into a bar where Monsieur Periné was playing. We were all amazed by the talent on stage and decided to stay for the rest of the evening. Seriously, we were asked to leave as we shut the place down.
The next day we couldn’t remember the name of the band we saw the night before, yet we all agreed that they were awesome. Then, as if it were planned, the singer for Monsieur Periné, Catalina García, comes walking by right in front of our booth at Style X. I immediately approached her, and probably looked like a crazy stalker in the moment, but I had to ask if she had any music from her band that I could get. She sold me an EP on the spot, and I couldn’t be happier that I’m able to own the soundtrack to a memorable evening I had in Austin, TX. Encounters like this, is why you go to SXSW.
