Standard Lenox Square Store Preview

November 20th, 2008 by Larry

The cat’s out of the bag! The hush-hush project we’ve been working on for the past month is revealed. We’ve been helping Standard get their store ready for their big opening which is today. EC was enlisted to hand-paint their wall murals (inspired by Lichtenstein) on the store’s interior and we’ve also spent time helping with odds and ends to get the store up and running. This is one of my favorite projects we’ve done this past year and definitely another great 3D space to add to the portfolio. Thanks to the Standard family for choosing EC for their top-notch project.

Last night Standard Lenox Square had a special store preview for friends and family. Check out those photos after the jump. Oh, and we’ll post some “making of” photos in the next few days. For now, let’s enjoy the finished product…

THE WALL at Art House Gallery this Friday

October 21st, 2008 by Ted

thewall2.jpg

A revised version of my technology mash-up project called THE WALL will be installed at Art House Gallery @ 309 Peters Street this Friday October 24, 2008. It is part of a nighttime event called LE FLASH, a night of light taking place in Castleberry Hill consisting of over 30 installations, street performances, and exhibitions using electricity, light, and sound. It promises to be a sight for the eyes.

THE WALL is more than an electronic billboard, it is a social tool. It combines multiple existing technologies to put the power of large-scale public imagery into the hands of the local community. With it, a neighborhood can instantly share user-defined content with each other in order to communicate, inspire, and build a sense of community.

Email a photo from phone or computer to [email protected] Your photo will appear on THE WALL within 20 seconds

Visit http://thewall.arthousecoop.com to see THE WALL for yourself. Click the THE WALL icon to view the archive of all past submissions. As always, submissions are anonymous but fill-in the email’s Subject line to identify yourself. For more info, contact [email protected]

Set It Off: Evereman

October 7th, 2008 by Larry

Name:
EVEREMAN

Aka:
Caterwaul, Clawed Reality

Website:
www.evereman.com

Where are you from?
Appalachian foothills Shelby, North Carolina

Who do you work for?
I’ll tell ya some jobs I’ve had: Glass Bottom Boat Skipper, Chimney Sweep, Apple Picker (Wisconsin), Movie Projectionist, Short Order Cook, Tilt-a-whirl operator, Tree Planter (Texas), Baker, Midnight Shift Sprout Waterer, Carpenter, Late night DJ at an automated radio station (not much to do, I used to spray paint the cockroaches in the breakroom. Those rascals look good when they scatter all Day Glow), Made belts out of Alligator skin (ATL) a while, I was a Bean Man at The Frij, Hotel Maid, Janitor at McDonalds. I have been self employed for a while now, Designer of Goods. I teach part-time to help fuel my art with cash money. Actually, I have three distinct artist personalities that I split time with. I prefer to keep my Enonymity so as to be able to do my E-thing UN-hindered.
EVEREMAN is not about me, it’s about all of us. I feel sure that whatever people have in mind about EVEREMAN, it’s more intriguing than I am. EVEREMAN is a beautiful idea, it is not an individual.

What are your Current Project(s)?
I’m painting some orange and black Hallerween EVEREMAN tiles for the season, Got my eye on a nice, visible, accessible bill board that screams out for EVEREMAN, just printed some skate decks with Danger Press, some group shows coming up. Also, I am in the market for some chunks of busted concrete, lots of it. Anybody know of a pile of busted concrete chunks laying around, let me know there whereabouts, will ya? Recently finished refurbishing a broken city bench E-style then replaced it for folks to use at a Marta stop.

Who would you love to work with?
Well, I gotta tell you, I am enjoying answering these questions with you, Larry. I’d love to work with any good-hearted ATLien.

If you had to give all your sneakers away to charity except for one pair, which ones would you keep?
I got a sweet pair of black leather Converse hightops that they don’t make any more. I’m trying to take extra good care of them now.

What’s on your iPod right now?
Woody Guthrie, The Carter Family, The Black Lips, Vietnam,  Ralph Stanley, The Upsetters, The Delmore Brothers, Anna Kramer, Judy Chicago,  Jimmie Rodgers,  High Grade Ganja Anthems Vol. 2. Ennio Moricone.

What’s your Favorite ATL food?
My favorite chef, hands down, is Linton Hopkins. I still haven’t had one of his 10 pm limited edition hamburgers, but I’m gonna git me one. On a daily basis there is Fellini’s Pizza, Willy’s Mexican, Carol Street Cafe, Six Feet Under, Figo, West Egg, Noni’s, Brick Store (did you say beer?)

What’s your Favorite ATL hangout?
My back porch, come on over.

What are your Pet Peeves?
People who are inconsiderate of others. Gonna reap what you sow.

Atlanta Lives

October 4th, 2008 by Ted

img_3356.jpg

After a week of concern about the state of the country, this morning was spent enjoying the hopeful local life of Atlanta’s downtown area on foot.

It began with a morning walk to my new favorite local coffee joint, Tilt in Castleberry Hill, across the bridge from our Mitchell Street studio. After a series of random happenstances, including heading to an ATM in Five Point for some cash, I stumbled upon some friendly people downtown along Auburn Ave. heading to the Sweet Auburn Heritage Festival. Music, food, crafts, and local folk abound. There was also a large presence of Obama merchandise and Voters Registration volunteers.

After talking with one of the registration volunteers, I learned that although she had only registered 1 person by that point during the day, everyone else she had talked to had already been registered. It was to those individuals, and everyone else reading this, that this worker encouraged to vote early. That’s right, you can vote early and avoid the long lines on election day! Head down to the third floor of the Fulton County Government building at 141 Pryor Street to vote early and/or register (and come back the next day to vote) if you haven’t already. More photos of my day after the jump, including a GIANT chess game at Five Point’s Woodruff Park, an impromptu photoshoot on Auburn Ave. with models, and some graffiti. Downtown Atlanta lives today.

Worldwide Hustlin’

April 3rd, 2008 by Larry

photo credit: Megan Huntz [Treviso, Italy]

The past 2 months have been exhausting, yet very rewarding for EC. Starting a design company ain’t easy. It’s even harder to run a hybrid design company/clothing line like we do. I’ve been to Las Vegas, Destin, Detroit, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong on business (and a little bit of personal time) all within a matter of weeks. It’s like I’ve hardly spent any time in Atlanta working on the new clothing line. That’s right, I said “NEW CLOTHING LINE”! We’re launching a new line in the Spring of 2009 that’s top secret for now…well, not totally top secret. If you come by our studio in Atlanta we’ll be glad to show you what we’re working on.

We’re totally planning to be carried nationwide and perhaps internationally. While I’ve been in Asia sourcing, Georgios has been hard at work on mood boards, color palates, and graphics for the new line at The Center for Design Study in Atlanta. I’m looking forward to getting back into the thick of things next week. Until then I wanted to share some recent Epidemik Coalition & Demuns by Epidemik Coalition related photos from all over the globe proving that the movement has begun!

March 18th, 2008 by Georgios

We went back up to Coca-Cola HQ this past week and installed a few more things that we didn’t get to finish on the last round. We had a fun time experimenting with spray paint and inks. We have a few more things to install and a whole conference room to design. So keep a lookout for future Project Fourt news.

Check out more photos after the jump.
