I created this illustration for the Burnaway Fundraiser Event this Saturday the 8th from 7-11 at the Granite Room in Castleberry Hill. They’ve asked artists, writers, performers, and designers to explore the theme of Atlanta’s ongoing cycles and history of building, destruction, rebuilding, renewing, and expanding–from Sherman’s march to the sea to pre-Olympics urban renewal, from our short memories of the past to our long-running myths of the future–and what the city has lost and gained through these cycles.
I’ve always thought that Atlanta needed a giant monster. New York has King Kong and Tokyo has Godzilla and now Atlanta or in this case #ATLantis has the Kracken.

We’ll be there passing out stickers so come thru and snatch one up.
The sticker doubles as coupon for We Are The Process apparel. Get 10% off any purchase if you make an appointment to come pick up gear from the W.A.T.P. studio. More info about the coupon and event after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Fire Island is a little doodle I have been working on recently. I’ve been meaning to get back to my weekly illustration. Now with SXSW and Style X behind us, we have a little more time on our hands. More to come soon.

Over the 3 years that we have been doing We Are the Process, we have created many designs and illustrations that we’ve scrapped because one reason or another… and this illustration is one of them. This initial version of Famine was replaced by the Mayan Priest version in the The Four Horsemen series.

I didn’t get a chance to create a brand new illustration this week because of the big move to the new studio… which we are all excited about. So I decided to take an older graphic and flip it. This lion was originally a Persian Lion I created for our friend, Farshad @StandardATL.
In Rastafari, “The Lion of Judah” represents Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia and is the symbol for the Rastafari movement. We’ve been listening to a lot of Reggae & Dancehall at the new studio so I thought this would be perfect for this week’s illustration.
@RuelVaz – I’ll print out a poster for you.

Playing off of last week’s theme of fusing Mayan Culture with Greek Mythology, I fully developed the other character off the Famine Seal into Zeus, the top dog on Mount Olympus. According to mythology, Prometheus stole fire and gave it to man. This infuriated Zeus so he decided to punish Prometheus by chaining him to a rock and sent an Eagle to tear out his liver everyday… Ouch!

Trying to start 2012 in full gear, I want to create a new illustration every week and post it on the blog. It would give me a chance to explore more characters. Like this guy, Prometheus, taken from the Famine Seal graphic t-shirt. View it here.
