The new Nike Basketball campaign features Kobe Bryant & his new shoe, the Zoom Kobe VI, as well as an array of guest appearances. The “movie” was also a collaborative project with esteemed director Robert Rodriguez. This is the 1st official trailer for the movie campaign, and I’m sure there’s more to come. The release date for the film is February 19th, 2011 during NBA All Star Weekend in Los Angeles.
Nike Basketball has partnered with Aston Martin to introduce the Nike Kobe Bryant (Aston Martin Edition) footwear pack at STAPLES Center. It started with the viral web video of Kobe Bryant jumping over an Aston Martin DB9, and was fueled by consumer demand that resulted in this high magnitude collaboration between Nike Basketball and the luxury sports car manufacturer.
Aston Martin-inspired colorways of the Zoom Kobe V and Nike Hyperdunk DB9 were available for sale to a select number of Kobe fans. Paying astute attention to detail, the lining in the Hyperdunk DB9’s were cut made from the same leather from the interior of the Aston Martin DB9. That puts it over-the-top for me! This is ridiculous! Madsteez completed this mural in 6 days. I’ve painted many-a-mural, and it’s not easy. The piece spans 80ft x 30ft and is on the rooftop of the Ricardo Montalban Theater on Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles. I want to see how he planned this feat!
Thanks to Franco for spotting this one on MTV Jams today:
DJ Greg Street from Atlanta’s V-103 radio station made a cameo in this video repping one of our out-of-stock & (regrettably) out-of-production fitteds from this Spring. If you were lucky enough to score one, congrats. It’s a collectors item now! I’m not at liberty to elaborate on that any more.
Yesterday, I was asked to freak a type treatment for Levi Maestro’s new mixtape (mixed by DJ Sourmilk) featuring songs from his Maestro Knows web series that has gotten hugely popular over the past months.
I decided to go with one of my favorite “display/headline” fonts, Trade Gothic Bold No. 20 Condensed, that I’ve been rockin’ since my design school days. Also, I’m hyped to finally throw down on one of Zach Wolfe’s shots. He’s been holding it down for ATL for years!

Ted’s headed back to Borneo to continue the work from when he went overseas earlier this year and the complimentary Estate LA 5-Panel cap that he’s wearing in this photo is going with him. It’s pretty cool to realize that in a matter of 5 days, that cap will have traveled from Los Angeles > Atlanta > Brooklyn > Borneo.
I just went by Standard on Peachtree to see how things were going and I caught @RyanAcker pushing their last two PROCESS x Estate LA caps on the phone, drinking a Whynatte, and wearing a Streetlocal tee. I had to snap a pic. Good things happen when you keep it local. Everything in this pic was created right here in the good ole U.S.A.
Here’s a cool pic of our latest collaboration with Estate LA which is on sale now. The Estate crew has the caps behind a glass case, next to what appears to be a signed pair of Zoom Kobe IV’s. Fresh!
We woke up this morning to an overwhelming amount of online orders and I even saw a few people picking theirs up at Standard today. We only have 50 caps in Atlanta and 50 caps in Los Angeles. Make sure you grab yours before they’re gone.
