Stage Presence

May 15th, 2010 by Larry

danny_boone_on_stage.jpg

I’m working on a new design project for Rehab’s upcoming album and I decided that the first step in the process was to go through thousands of live show photos that we’ve taken over the years and pick out the great shots. I’ve been waiting to take on this project for a long time and I’m really excited that the opportunity is finally here. Here’s one of my favorite photos of singer, Danny Boone, showing the Tabernacle crowd what he’s made of.

It’s awesome to see the Hawks’ constant improvement from year to year. They’ll be entering the playoffs as the #3 seed in the East starting this Saturday.

Check out Joe Martinez’ tumblr for some great Philips Arena photos he took recently. I’ve got my computer desktop in playoff mode!

We Are The Process Fantasy Football Champs

January 11th, 2010 by Larry

1st Place - Alan Woodruff - TEXAS RANGER CHUCK NORRIS

Congrats to Alan Woodruff & his team, Texas Ranger Chuck Norris, for winning the First Annual We Are The Process Fantasy Football League. By defeating Ross Martin’s Duuuuuuuuval Destroyers 221 to 115, Alan earns bragging rights for the next year, and his name engraved on the base of our new trophy.

Thanks to Joe Martinez, we were able to gather our league winners for portraits as we awarded them with their trophies. Check them out after the jump. But first an announcement about next season:

Next year, the competition gets even more intense, as we’ll be adding new players, adding relegation league, and increasing the role of several player positions. We have plenty of time to discuss the details, but if you’re interested in joining our league next year, . Not everyone that played this year will be getting a bid to re-up for next season! Especially if you were the bro that:
1) traded Ronnie Brown for Plaxico Burress
2) traded Peyton Manning for an injured Michael Turner
3) started Seneca Wallace for 3 weeks straight

Ok, enough… on to the photos! Read the rest of this entry »

Photo Friday: Noah Kalina

October 23rd, 2009 by Larry

noah_kalinaimage242w800.jpg

Some of you might recognize this weeks photographer not for his photography but for a little viral video from a few years ago. Thats right, Noah Kalina is the maker and star of the famous YouTube video where he takes a picture of himself every day for 6 years. Little did I know when I first saw that video that he was a photographer himself. He’s been making a name for himself more and more in the commercial world and has been producing some really great work lately. One of my favorite essays on his website is his “What Happens in Vegas” essay. Its a series of self portraits taken all over landmarks in Vegas with the same facial expression every time. This essay is only a small example of Kalina’s work and talents. Check out more of this series after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Photo Friday: Jell-O T-Bone

October 2nd, 2009 by Jorge

Photos by Jorge Menes

About a month ago, we were contacted by Kristina Feliciano, from Stockland Martel Blog. Kristina is the one responsible for making it one of the best photography blogs out there. For those of you who may not know, Stockland and Martel represents some of the brightest and hottest talent in the photography industry, to include Georgia’s own: Liz Von Hoene and Jim Fiscus. Kristina had read one of our Photo Friday posts about Stockland Martel photographer, Hans Gissinger. She thought it would be fun if Hans and I got a chance to speak again, and catch up since the last time we spoke. Like before, I decided to do a photo for Hans in appreciation for taking the time to speak to me. Here is a link to that conversation. Big thanks to Hans, Kristina, and the Stockland Martel crew. We love collabos! Kristina, let’s do this again soon. Enjoy, ya’ll.

Set It Off: Joe Martinez

September 30th, 2009 by Larry

Name:
Joe Martinez

Aka:
Joe Focus, J-money, Joe Martinez Photography

Website:
www.joemartinezphotography.com

Where are you from?
Always an interesting question. My parents are in the Navy, so I don’t have a “hometown” per se. We moved up and down the east coast for a while before heading out to Okinawa, Japan for 8 years (our longest deployment), so I guess technically I’m from Okinawa (aka, THE ROCK!)

Who do you work for?
I’m a freelance photographer so it varies, but I guess my biggest clients are Atlanta Magazine, Yahoo! Music, Converse, and Decrypt Productions.

What are your Current Project(s)?
I just finished up shooting a couple assignments for ATL Magazine which should be in the October & November issues. Before that, I was in Europe shooting some press kit images for international singer-songwriter, Ana Free, and my good friend, Blake Brandes. We shot for two weeks in the Greek Islands; white sands, crystal clear water, and amazing weather. All in a hard days work! Next up, I’m looking to continue some personal projects and get some new promotional pieces out. Gotta stay grinding!!

Who would you love to work with?
I’d love to shoot for Monocle Magazine and GOOD Magazine. Love their design and the organic look to all of their photography. I’d also like to do some collaborative documentary work with some of my fellow young shooters here in the ATL.

If you had to give all your sneakers away to charity except for one pair, which ones would you keep?
My BRONZE Nike R9 soccer cleats. They’ve been all over the world with me, and even though the soles are finally starting to fall off, I’ll keep taping them up until they literally fall off my feet.

What’s on your iPod right now?
Ryan Leslie, Third Eye Blind, Phoenix, Maximo Park, Soulfire, Blueprint 3, J. Cole, Janelle Monae, Little Brother, Outkast, Kid Cudi, Common Market, Blu, Blue Scholars, Mos Def, Fabolous, Donnis, Frank Sinatra and John Mayerz, haha.

What’s your Favorite ATL food?
Western omelette from the Majestic for breakfast, Brick Burger from Brick Store for lunch, anything from 2 Urban Licks for dinner. Oh, and R. Thomas for a late night snack.

What’s your Favorite ATL hangout?
Every time I think I’m over El Bar, I show up and fall in love all over again.

What are your Pet Peeves?
Dook University, the Cowboys not making the playoffs, dudes in super skinny jeans, Comcast, tourists, past due invoices, bad photography from good photographers, cheap labor from bad photographers.

Shout outs?
Big shout out to THE Wake Forest University, all of my fellow Demon Deacons, Coach Buck and the LuHi Crusaders, the Huge Mules, DJ Decryption (Yo Mookie!!) , Ana Free (Greecey!), Juliet & Ed, The Soulfire fam, ALL of the A.I. JOE SUPPORTERS, Treehouse crew, EC, The Graduates, Innuendo, the Columbus crew: Swellica (and Babo!) & J-Shores, Furlough Creamery, Ross “Rossome” Martin Photography, Jamie “J-Hops” Hopper Photography, Emily “E-Drizzles” Dryden Photography, Special K (Die first, then quit!), the whole Oki crew (Which Foo??), all of my OZ/NZ friends, to my little sis who just graduated from college and is already making more money than me, and to my mom (HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!!) and dad…this will all be worth it one day. Hang in there with me.

Photo Friday: Holga Photos

September 11th, 2009 by Ross

seattle120_01_header.jpg

Today I got back all but one roll (stupid, I know) of the rest of my film from my trip to Seattle. I had not used a Holga for years but I bought one before this trip just to see what I could get. Every one of these cameras is different and its always cool to see the differences.
